EXECUTIVE Village Football Club lady booters and Don Bosco Technical Institute-Victorias grabbed the Talisay City Executive Village Football Club Invitational Festival of Football 2010 title after defeating their respective opponents Friday at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College-Talisay football pitch.
The Bosconians stunned the Ateneans, who led the eliminations in the 13-under boys with a clean record, including a victory over DBTI (4-0), after defeating them at the penalty, 4-3.
Both squads held scoreless at the end of the regulation after they showcased great defenses at both ends, denying every aggressive attacks and possible goal attempts.
The Ateneans, earlier disappointed host-Talisay Selection by posting a 4-0 record while DBTI gave Kabankalan City FC a wide 14-0 advantage.
On the other hand, host-squad finished third overall after beating Central Philippine University, 3-2 at the penalty after ended scoreless in the regulation.
Meanwhile, co-host EVFC outplayed Miriam College-Manila, 2-0 to bag the crown in the ladies’ 18-under.
EVFC has controlled the game’s tempo all throughout the contest despite Miriam’s several goal attempts.
The co-host squad has earlier defeated Miriam in the elimination in a thrilling battle, 4-3.
Talisay Section, on the other hand, failed to avenge earlier loss against Bacolod Molasses after they bowed, 3-2.
In the closing ceremony, sponsors Mayor Eric Saratan and EVFC president Rafael Lizares Jr. pledged to continue support this event particularly in the grassroots where future national standouts hail.
