THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) posted a 5-0 win over St. Theresa's College (STC) in the girls 14 division of the 13th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Aboitiz Sportsfield at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
SHS-AdC started its opening match in the tournament with an early goal from Annie Ugarte just six minutes from the start of the game.
Seven minutes later, Lina Fernan added her contribution for SHS-AdC.
Ugarte once again found the back of the net at the 22th minute giving her team a three-point advantage going into the break.
Other contributors for SHS-AdC were Xatti Ybanez (49th minute) and Nikki Tilka (53rd minute).
In the Boys 14, Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) 1 pocketed its second win in the tournament with an 18-0 rout of the DB Boys home.
The win put DBTC 1 at the top of the standings while DB Boys Home is nailed at the bottom.
The other match saw Blessed John barging into the win column after blanking DBTC 2, 2-0.
In the Boys 12, SHS-AdC inched up to third place with a 14-1 domination of Subangdaku Football Club (SFC), which remained at the bottom of the standings.
In the Players 10, DBTC E took over the top spot from DBTC C after defeating the latter 5-2.
In the other games, SHS-AdC annihilated DBTC B, 4-0, while DBTC D sailed past Bright Academy, 3-0.
In the Players 8, Giuseppe FC finally posted its first win with a 7-0 blanking of current no. 2 DBTC C, while DBTC 4 sailed past DBTC B, 5-3. The third match, DBTC 2 escaped Bright Academy 3-2.
Meanwhile, the Men's Cup will have its opening matches this morning with the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Alumni facing DBUFC 1 while DBUFC 2 goes up against XANTOS FC. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
