That first goal by Laos should've been saved by the gk. Not the type that should've been let through even by a 4-th string premiership gk. The second goal, maybe he had a chance but can't fault him. Having said that, the problem with short highlights is that saves and especially distribution are not shown, which he might have done well.
Looking back at the first goal by Laos, it took a slight but significant deflection from the defender, hence Etheridge was wrong footed. He could still have saved it but not it was not as easy as it might have looked. 2nd goal I agree, he can't be faulted.
Based on the live streaming, I saw some good saves by both Etheridge and the Laos GK. And kudos to Etheridge, based on the video, he was either directly or indirectly involved in both RP goals as he actually provided both free kicks, the 1st leading to the penalty and the 2nd leading to the header.
Nice game! One of the most exciting games I've seen where the Philippines was involved.
the Azkals are showing a lot of maturity, fighting for the ball until the dying seconds -- and scoring(!) did it against taipei, did it again against a tougher laos, which, historically, is a strong team but has declined considerably in the last few years. go AZKALS!
Philippine has a great size and height advantage, we should be capitalizing on free kicks around the box and dominating in the air with flicks in the goal.

ReplyDeleteGood luck against Cambodia! Go Azkals!
the shot was a deflected. even the best of goalies can only do so much with a deflected shot. anyway, go AZKALS!
