FUCK YOU futbolpunx! Tangina mo rin!! You're just another wannabe!

English is also an official language of the Philippines! You clearly don't know that which makes you even more of a twat!

And you saying what you did means that you're also one of the assholes who don't want any of the Fil-foreigners in the national team! Great to know. You should realize that the Fil-foreigners are the ones making the national team more competitive!

at sinusuportahan ko ang mga fil-foreigners, but i prefer homegrown pinoys. you are the fool who was talking shit about neil etheridge's back up status in fulham.

you're a fucking hater mah nigga

ikaw nga ang wanna be kase lahat inaaway mo.

  12. 5-0 ! Keep scoring , goal difference can be the decider to qualify for finals

LOL! Your really are a punk and a WANNABE gangster and you think you're black!

"Mah nigga"...... yes.... you truly are a fucking wannabe! At least now I know and good for you!

Neil Etheridge's status at Fulham? What about it? You really a deluded cunt! He's third choice! That's not hating on him, its just a fact which for some reason you can't seem to understand!

And why do you "prefer" homegrown players? So yes you really do have a problem with the half-Filipinos playing for the national team. That means you're also one them fuckers that doesn't think these half-Filipinos aren't really Filipino. It shouldn't matter where the player lives, where they were born or if they're half or pure Filipino, as long as they're eligible and willing to play for the cause then it doesn't and shouldn't matter. Their should be no preference to either or.

So once again good for you. Now I know and everyone can know what kind of person you really are!

    Anyway.... about the game.

Good win. Although a litle disappointing that they only scored one goal in the second half. And a bit surprising that Phil Younghusband got subbed off quite early.

  15. Good game. I wont miss the next game. Azkals dominated the field on both sides.

  18. Phil was injected with pain-killers early today just so he could play. He hasnt completely recovered from the high ankle sprain he sustained in the Davao camp. So taking him off early was just a precautionary measure.

  19. HasThisBeenTaken: only you seem to care. Everyone else who resent the name have just learnt to deal with the name rather than crying like some drama queen.

And you guys should know better than to fight on here...let's act mature, people.

Initially that's what I was thinking that he hasn't fully recovered from his injury. Although I also thought that he had already recovered. Anyway......

    Thanks for that Mr. Tupas!

    @ some annonymous person....
LOL! Because it's a shit name! Only shit people has a liking for a shit name like "azkals".

  21. So even the players are shit since they have accepted the name as well?

And it's rather sad you only look at the negatives of the team...loosen up and learn to enjoy. Otherwise, get some help...you really need one.

  24. So speaking english is bad now? Haha many of the fil-foreigners dont speak any filipino language and has to speak english. And then some jerk comes with a comment about the english language. To whom it may concern, did you actually know that even some of the local players prefer english than speaking tagalog? STFU asswhipe!

When it comes to the game. Good result. Ian Araneta finally shows his true potential. Ive said in the past that he is a good player and now he is performing at a level where he should be. Im looking forward for the rest of the game.

Can you ask Mr. Tupas if he knows which players were registered for these qualifiers. As there are at least 26 players that traveled to Laos for the Philippine team.

  29. @Hasthisbeen taken

Sorry man, my asswhipe post wasnt for you, but the other guy.

Pavone, Relucio, Camcam, Palmes, Jaugan were amongst those who didnt make the final cut. I dont remember the remaining. Pavone came from the US, but didnt make it. The rest are mentioned on the Azkals FB page. It means they have 8 men on the side. I dont understand or see the point of bringing that many players to Laos.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i agree though.. we really should find a better moniker for the team. azkals is just... negatively lame.

good win by the way. i was kinda hoping for more goals but hey... thats 5-0. im fine with that.

so they are injecting painkillers on james younghusband? isnt that... bad? if i was an athlete id wait for the injury to heal rather than let someone inject painkillers in my body. and it was only from a sprain? what the?

  31. FINAL 18
    GK Etheridge, Sacapano
DF Bermejo, Del Rosario, Borromeo, Gier, Jonnson,Basa
MF De Jong, Ott, Margarse, Gener, Ferrer, Caligdong, James YH,
    FW Barsales, Araneta, Phil YH

  32. HasThisBeenTaken22 October 2010 at 18:54

Ya, no problem. I knew you were referring to that punk futbolpunx!

I just saw the official match summary on the Suzuki Cup website. It's an 18 man squad. Along with the players you mentioned, Barbaso and Atienza didn't make it either. But Etheridge (obviously) and Bermejo were the additions. And just like you, I also don't understand why so many players traveled. The final squad should've been named before they left Manila.

    @TheClockWorks....

Ahhhh..... nice!! Someone who actually agrees and has any sort of sense. It really is negatively lame and more! lol!

It's Phil not James they're injecting. It's also painkillers not steroids so its all good. And as far as I'm concerned its a normal practice like in pro club football in Europe. But obviously they can't be completely injured or unfit when they do this.

If they knew he wasn't completely fit, they shouldn't have risked him at all against Timor-Leste, or at least should have subbed him at half-time.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bermejo has been with the team since Manila, but i dont think he got to play in Taiwan. Maybe injury.

Besides that, i dont share clockworks opinion regarding the score. 5-0 isnt bad, and its improvement since we last met East Timor. And if you have played footie for many years, you would know that a sprain can be pretty bad. Players can be out for weeks if its a really bad sprain.

This win shows that we arent as dependent on Phil Y like we were a couple of years ago. Ian Araneta finally stepped up, and its very good. Its been a long wait for him to unleash his potential. Now lets beat Laos!

    ReplyDelete
  34. lets make Laos suffer! Make them wish they never played football ever! make hate themselves like how we hate ourselves when it comes to endless basketball debacles!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Great win indeed. However, the match between Cambodia and Laos was more competitive than our game against Timor Leste. It's okay that they relaxed a bit but they should not be complacent and be more aggressive in their next games.

    ReplyDelete
  36. to everybody, weve decided to call them Azkals years ago. We had a big argument, debates and even cursing on a separate forum, hundreds of post. At the end of the day "Azkals" prevailed. We fought for this, thats why we call them Azkals today.

Nobody is forcing you guys to call them azkals, you can call them the Eagles if you want to, we can respect that. But you should respect us for calling them Azkals, coz as I said, we fought for this.

    ReplyDelete
  37. pero pare the players never wanted to be called azkals. paano ba yan?

    ReplyDelete
  38. HasThisBeenTaken23 October 2010 at 18:10

    @fubol mkn...

Who exactly is "we" when you mention "we've decided to call them azkals"?

And so what if it prevailed? I fully respect your freedom in what you think the national team should be called, but what I don't respect is that you and the other people when you mentioned "we", came to the conclusion that "azkals" was was the best choice. Just because it "prevailed" in whatever forum you're talking about, doesn't make it official. It's a ridiculously lame and cheesy name to begin with and to add to that, just as clockworks said, the players don't want to be called that either.

    ReplyDelete
  39. When I say we, its we people who call them Azkals. This is the era when somebody among us discovered Phil playing for Chelsea, this was years back. That forum closed, now we use separate forums. You notice it is used on other forum and even on print(media)? This are the people who was part of that forum.

As I said you can start a group and call them the Flying Eagles if you want,so it would sound cool nobody's stopping you, but for us they are the Azkals.

We dont need their(players) approval to call them Azkals(thats one point being debated before)Its is us fans who decide what to call them.

    ReplyDelete
  40. HasThisBeenTaken23 October 2010 at 22:39

Alright fine, I can somewhat respect that.

However, I'd like to ask what the reasoning is for naming the national team "azkals"?? And why you and other people like it so much and are so adamant in calling the national that name.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @HasThisBeenTaken

o Its a long story. I think somebody has a an article posted about that(Why Azkals?).The whole history why we call them the Azkals. Im not sure who, it was a long time ago and it was on a forum that doesnt exist anymore. There are also pictures of players wearing the Azkals shirts during those games in Bacolod, Sea Games I think?

Maybe the admin can help as with that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. TheClockWorks: Aly Borromeo even printed shirts with 'Azkals' on it...how can you say the players don't want that name?

    ReplyDelete
  43. @fubol mkn + BEST BUY:

The forum was called PinoySoccer. I remember that thread too and I was one of those who supported the "Azkals" moniker. One of the graphics I made can still be Googled (search for "Azkals" in Google Images, it's the one that has a red, wavy background with Borromeo on the foreground, and smaller pics of the other players celebrating a goal) and a copy of it exists in PhilBoxing-- of all places. Hahaha!

Anyhow, I think BEST BUY's right. That was the time when the YH brothers were new (before the SEA Games); the MNT coach then was Aris Caslib; there was something going on between the NCRFA and a newly-formed FA in south Metro Manila; and there was also some nasty politicking going on in the CebuFA. (I'm sorry if I've opened old wounds, just trying to give a timeframe.)

    @HasBeenTaken + TheClockWorks:

In a press conference, the moniker became "official" (note the quotes) after a reporter who follows the PinoySoccer forums asked the team members how they felt about "Azkals" name. IIRC, it was Borromeo who said something along the lines of, "at first glance, askals are nothing special but you realise they are cunning, dependable, and resilient animals" and the rest of the guys agreed with him.

Since then, the said PinoySoccer thread had been quiet except for the intermittent complaints of new guys to the forum who didn't know how it all happened (and ended). But yeah, as fubol mkn said, "we fought for it"-- a lot of people fought over it and the name held. Hehe, that's why you still hear/read "Azkals" until now.

    On topic: Go Philippines! =)

    @BEST BUY....

If it's a long story then that's OK. But you haven't answered my other questions.

You guys may have "fought" over it, but why do you like it so much and why are you so adamant in calling the national team with this name rather than something else??

`You guys may have "fought" over it, but why do you like it so much and why are you so adamant in calling the national team with this name rather than something else??`

There were no alternatives to Azkals then, there are no alternatives to Azkals now. It's that simple.

If you don't like it then come up with an alternative, write about it, get football fans to fight over it, and hopefully someone from the squad will settle it. Until such time, you can complain about the moniker in the comments section of an obscure blog all you want...
