Pint-sized hitmen out to leave giant mark

By Karlo Sacamos

TWO pocket-sized scorers hope to deliver anew when Pachanga-Diliman and Green Archers United clash on Saturday night in the United Football League at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
Boyet Cañedo, a 5-4 hitman who registered a hat-trick in just six minutes in Pachanga’s 5-1 thrashing of Philippine Air Force three weeks ago, hopes to sustain his scoring spree for the Division 2 titlists who are looking to move back to the upper half of the standings.
One of the league’s most efficient scorers, 5-foot-2 Jesus Melliza is expected to lead the Archers’ charge anew as the eighth-running club tries to avoid dropping into the relegation zone.
The Archers, only ahead of two Armed Forces clubs in Army and the Airmen in the 10-team field, are aching to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Loyola Meralco three weeks ago.
The lone Division 1 match kicks off at 8 p.m.
In Division 2 play two hours earlier, second-running Agila, with 12 points in six matches, aims to move closer to leader Socceroo when it faces another struggling military club in Navy, which is at the bottom of the standings with only five points to show.
