UFL contenders Loyola, Stallion shoot for wins against Army, Air Force

Karl Decena, InterAKTV

Contenders Stallion Sta. Lucia and the Loyola Meralco Sparks target victories in separate matches against military squads in United Football League action Tuesday at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill in Taguig.
League leader Stallion faces Philippine Army at 5:15 p.m., while the third-seed Loyola meets Philippine Air Force at 7:30 p.m.
Stallion aims to tighten its grip of the League leadership, currently sporting 10 wins with only one loss to gain 30 points and lead the standings.
The Sparks, meanwhile, is also in the hunt for title contention, placing third place with an 8-2-1 win-draw-loss record for 26 points.
But an easy victory would surely be not an assurance for Stallion and Loyola, as Army and Air Force are now motivated to get as much wins as they can to avoid relegation.
Army is now submerged at the bottom of the standings with a 1-1-9 card for four points. Air Force, meanwhile, is riding on a two-game winning streak after losing its first nine matches of the season for six points and take the ninth place in the table.
The last-placed team at the end of the season will be relegated to Division Two, while the ninth-seed squad needs to face the second division runner-up in a playoff match for a spot in Division One.
AKTV begins live coverage at 5 p.m.
