Organizers move Bro Football Cup

Wednesday, April 10, 2013
THE Bro Football Cup, which was to use a Challenge of Champions format on April 22-26, has been moved because of the Philippine Football Federation Suzuki Cup.
The Bro Football Cup, originally scheduled on April 22-26, was to feature local teams against six visiting teams—San Beda FC, Philippine Air Force, (PAF) Dipolog, Ceres, La Salle and Global FC.
However Dipolog, Ceres and La Salle all backed out to prepare for the Suzuki Cup, which has also been postponed, while organizers didn’t receive any confirmation from Global FC. That meant only San Beda, PAF, Queen City United and the University of Cebu are confirmed to play in the tournament, forcing organizers to move it to another date.
Although the teams who backed out are now available due to the indefinite postponement of the U-23 Suzuki Cup, the organizers do not want to risk holding it as scheduled as it may sacrifice the quality of the tournament.
“We decided to move it on a different date instead as we want to launch this tournament that will prioritize the presence of outside teams which will expose homegrown teams to more intense competitions,” said organizer Rodney Orale.
More players showed up yesterday in the second day of The Sayson Group Football Club Free Clinic at Aboitiz Sports Field.
The free clinic is scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until May 31.
Among the players who showed up were Adrian and Carl Bitoon, Dave Arias, Karl Bascon, Timmy Suarez, Keenan Michael, Frank Davis Semilla, Ritchel Gerasmio Jr., Mikhail Ares, Ronald Bitor, Julbert Rizzane, Christian Paul Carizon, Jason Perez, Junifer Taytayan Jr., Patrick Yagi and Celwyn Torillo.
