Defending champion Global FC and the Loyola Meralco Sparks tangle with the top spot in the standings at stake as the United Football League resumes action Tuesday at the Emperador Stadium in McKinley Hill in Taguig.
Loyola and Global meet in a match between the League’s top two squads at 7:30 p.m. after the game between Pasargad FC and Philippine Army at 5:15 p.m.
The reigning UFL titlist Global is currently on a hot streak, remaining the only squad without a loss after seven matches to gain 21 points and the solo top spot in the standings.
But the Sparks trail closely behind Global, having won six matches and drawing just one for 19 points. A win will allow the Sparks to overtake the defending champion on top of the League table.
Aside from the dispute for the League leadership, the match will also feature several members of the national team. Global has 10 active Azkals members in its lineup, namely Marwin and Marvin Angeles, Misagh Bahadoran, Jeffrey Christiaens, Carli De Murga, Patrick Reichelt, Matthew Uy and new acquisitions Jason De Jong, Eduard Sacapaño and Joshua Beloya.
Global will also lean on the offensive prowess of imports Izzo Elhabib and Ben Starosta, among others.
Loyola, meanwhile, will parade Azkals stars Phil and James Younghusband. They will also rely on brothers Mark and Matt Hartmann, among others.
In the first match, Pasargad and Army try to improve their records after posting just one victory each after seven matches.
Army is currently ninth in the League table and four points away from fellow military squad Philippine Air Force, which still has no points.
Pasargad, meanwhile, is at the seventh spot with five points to show.
AKTV starts the live coverage at 5 p.m.
