Wednesday, April 3, 2013
THE University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) is on its final two weeks of preparation for the Suzuki U-23 Cup.
USJR, which represented the Cebu Football Association, qualified for the Visayas finals and will be facing the Negros Occidental Football Association (NOfa) and Iloilo Football Association (IFA) on April 15-21 in San Carlos City. They will play a double round robin and the top two teams will advance to the national finals in Dumaguete.
The team is set to leave on April 13 with CFA shouldering its uniform, coaches’ allowance and miscellaneous expenses.
Tournament organizers will hand the transportation, accommodation and food for the teams.
Head coach Joselito Bono said the team has been practicing regularly since the Aboitiz Cup ended last month.
Bono, who will also lead the Don Bosco Technology Center elementary football team in the Palarong Pambansa, will leave for the Palaro after the Visayas finals.
“Tan-awon if makabalik lang basta manghingkamot na maqualify to the finals,” said Bono.
