Stage hampers field prep for AFC Presidents Cup

Saturday, April 27, 2013
A MISUNDERSTANDING broke out but was eventually settled after a stage was put up at the Cebu City Sports Center for a religious activity.
The 24 by 32-meter stage is to be used for an annual event of a religious group.
“Ang among concern kay ang kabug-atan sa stage if mulubog nya siya kay patay na ang grass,” said Engr. Rodney Orale, who is in charge of rehabilitating the field for the Asian Football Confederation Presidents Cup, where teams from Bhutan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan will face off with Global FC of the Philippines.
The stage is placed where the stage for the Sinulog was placed, and Orale said they were planning to apply fertilizer this weekend in that area to repair the pitch damaged during the Sinulog.
Members of the Cebu Football Association requested the CCSC to not allow the putting up of the stage in the football pitch, which is being prepared for the three-day international tournament.
However, CCSC manager Ricky Ballesteros said they can’t do that because the event was booked last December, while CFA booked their event last March. The CCSC pitch was closed for rehabilitation since March.
Ballesteros also said that they can’t turn down previous bookings of clients.
He also added that there was no written contract between the CFA and CCSC that states they are not allowed to put up a stage in the field.
There had already been previous arrangements between the two groups but these were mostly verbal agreements.
A written contract is set to be signed by both parties when Ballesteros returns from the Palarong Pambansa this Monday.
Ballesteros assured that despite this event, they will always be willing to support the activities of the CFA and that it won’t do much damage to the field.
“It won’t be like the stage in Sinulog. It won’t majorly affect the field,” said Ballesteros.
CCSC had provided the carabao grass for the field and they will be willing to give more if the situation calls for it.
Orale, on the other hand, just hopes the turnout won’t be bad since they can’t do anything about it already especially that the stage has been set.
“Mag ampo na lang sad mi na dili grabe ang damage,” said Orale.

  2. It's been said many times before...... the PFF along with Fartlami, have this obsession to host as many tournaments and friendlies as possible pero tangina, hindi pala kaya!!!

Hosting once in a while, ok lang! Pero ang PFF at si Fartlami, halos lahat gusto Pilipinas mag host pero bulok naman facilities natin!

On top of that, they end up spending money they don't have just to halfheartedly renovate the venue when it could have been used some where else. And then there's always some miscommunication here and there like what this article says. It's ridiculous to say the least!
