KAYA tries to get the job done this time against a Stallion-Sta. Lucia side that is seeking to pull away further from the rest of the United Football League field on Tuesday night.
Coming off three straight draws, last year’s runner-up hopes to get maximum points this time when it takes on the Stallions at 7:30 p.m. in the lone Division 1 game at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
A victory for the Stallions will increase their point total to 36, five points ahead of Global.
Global was supposed to face Philippine Army in the first game at 5:15 p.m., but the reigning League champions are currently in Cebu seeing action in the Asian Football Confederation President’s Cup.
The curtain raiser will now feature Division 2 squads Socceroo and Cimarron.
Socceroo, the front-running squad hoping to get promoted by the end of the season, is looking to keep its unbeaten run of 10 games when it faces fifth-running Cimarron.
Spanish sensation Rufo Sanchez is expected to lead the Stallions anew, but the reigning UFL Cup champions are also hoping to draw another strong showing from left winger Nathan Alquiros, who has scored in all four games since he suited up for the squad.
Kaya, the club with the most draws this season with six, hopes to move back to solo fourth and ahead of Pachanga-Diliman.
“I believe the Stallions are going to be a big test for us,” Kaya skipper Anton del Rosario said. “We’ll see if we can get out of this funk and play the way we’re supposed to play.”
“OJ’s a stud player who can score goals. That’s what we need,” Del Rosario said.
