I wish them well but frankly I don't expect too much. I saw them play recently and while they have some good players, there are some very questionable players also on the team. One player we know is only 12 years old and with the vast number of 13 year olds who are bigger, faster, stronger, and more skillful than this boy, one has to ask how he got on this team?
ReplyDeleteThen it's probably a case of the management trying to fast track a few players. Don't forget, the PFF has set an idiotically unrealistic target of qualifying for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup. So players such as this 12 year old that you mention would most likely make up the squad that will try to qualify for it.
DeleteBecause they keep on relying on earlier selected kids for the little azkals, results are below par. I hope those incharge should keep on scouting more better players by attending/observing tournamnets held all over the country...for several times, i noticed that a lot of more skillful and aggressive players are found in Bacolod and most parts of Negros Occidental...in Iloilo as well and Dumaguete.
ReplyDeleteI was able to watch players from Cebu but they lack some of the most important factors to be a better player. But in fairness, cebu parents are very supportive.
Observed that most of the players are strikers/mid-fielders. Think the coaching staff ignored the best defensive players around.
