Green Archers United tries to continue its climb up the United Football League standings when it collides with a rusty Philippine Army side on Saturday at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
In eighth place and out of the relegation zone, the Archers now hope to leapfrog a slumping Nomads club in the standings as they take the artificial pitch at 8:30 p.m. against a Troopers side that has been on a more than two-week unscheduled layoff.
Army was supposed to have a match against Global last week, but was shelved as the league gave way to the defending champion's stint in the Asian Football Confederation President’s Cup in Cebu last week.
A win for the Troopers, who are at the bottom of the 10-team pile with four points, will move them past Air Force, which has six points under its belt.
The Archers turned back the Airmen, 4-2, last week in a game where Ilonggos Chieffy Caligdong, Arnie Pasinabo, and Jon Melliza, and foreigner Agbayomi Olowoyeye found the back of the net.
The Troopers, on the other hand, last fought in April 30 in a 6-1 defeat at the hands of league-leading Stallion-Sta. Lucia.
