NEIL Etheridge has signed a one-year extension with English Premier League side Fulham FC, assuring that there will still be a Filipino booter in one of the world’s top football leagues.
With the deal, the 23-year-old Filipino-British goalkeeper and regular Azkals’ starter, will stay on with the club, currently ranked 12th in the EPL standings, until next summer, with an option for another extension.
A backup at Fulham, the 6-foot-3 Etheridge has yet to appear in a Premier League match, but has made his debut in the Uefa Europa League in December 2011 when he suited up against Odense Boldklub.
"I’m delighted to have signed for another year at the club as it’s been a special place for me since I joined,” Etheridge said in an interview posted on the team’s website late Wednesday.
“There’s a fantastic set-up here for me to train and really hone my craft and, with Mark Schwarzer guiding me, I really couldn’t ask for a better mentor or opportunity.”
