Bro champs to join Mindanao tourney

Wednesday, May 1, 2013
TWO champion teams in the Bro Nationals Football Festival last weekend will be among the teams seeing action in the second leg of the Mindanao Initiative Tournament in Dipolog this May 5 and 6.
The 11-a-side invitational competition organized by the Dipolog Football Association is already on its second leg. The first one was held in Cagayan de Oro.
It will feature only two categories, which are the Boys Born 2002 and Born 1999 under its grassroots program.
There will be eight teams in the Born 2002 category, while as of press time, there were still five teams in the Born 1999.
Bro 2002 and Bro 1999 backed by Don Bosco Technical Center (DBTC) booters will be representing Cebu in the clash of teams from
Visayas and Mindanao.
It will still be the same lineup in the Bro 2002 teams, which has seven elite players and all 15 are from DBTC. Bro 1999 has 14 players with two picked up from Bright Academy.
Engineer Keith Buyco who is part of the DBTC Parents’ Association and one of the founders of the Bro Football Festival said that this is one way of bringing the festival to other cities.
“It is also the aim of Bro to visit other tournaments and have affiliate clubs and to have more friends through football,” said Buyco.
This is part of their plan for next year to hold eliminations for outside Cebu teams and bring them to Cebu for the final face off.
