Norfa outshines Little Azkals in Pintaflores U16

NEGROS Oriental Football Association escaped the Under-14 national team to collar the 5th Pintaflores National U16 Invitational Football Cup yesterday in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The Little Azkals fell short in the penalty shootout, 4-2, after the regulation ended in a 2-2 tie.

It was the Little Azkals’ first loss in the tournament.
But a runner-up finish already made Little Azkals head coach Oliver Colina proud of his boys, especially with his team being the youngest squad to participate in an Under-16 tournament.
Colina said he wasn’t frustrated with the performance of his boys but rather with the sloppy officiating, which he thought foiled the game.
“Nindot ang duwa sa mga bata but walay klaro ang calls,” said Colina.
He also added that to have come this far for an exposure tournament for his 14-year-
old players who went up with 16 year old players, they had nothing to lose.
But he still has to remind his boys to play under pressure especially in penalty shootout situations.
This will be the team’s last tune-up competition before they head to a national tour, where they will get the chance to play either Singapore or Australia.
“They are in good shape and makita nimo ang heart sa mga bata muduwa. Even if they are young, dako kaayo ug potential,” said Colina.

  1. NORFA should definitely outshine the Philippine Team U14 'Little Azkals' as they have lots of 17 year olds in their team including the UNIGAMES participants -the 3 Teen Azkals including Angelo Bahoyan who was booked twice and was sent off in the second half as the team played dirty tactics all through out and played defensive when they are down to 9 players imposing a 1-5-2 formation so the National Team can't penetrate and waiting for the penalty shootout to come. Majority of NORFA players are from Anthony's FC which was known in Dumaguete to play rough and dirty everytime which mirrors that to their coach style of play.

    5. complain to the organizers why they let AFC play. or you want the boys' birth certificates? why are u so mad with AFC? because of their "dirty tactics"? have u seen other clubs play? open your eyes, look deeper. what they did was a strategy. i salute AFC's coach/es. other coaches should be like him/them. they used their brains!

  2. I hope the Anthony's FC are happy in their achievement as they beat a young and promising team which they need to impose their strength and maximum effort to withstand the Little Azkals attack.

    1. sir! everybody are happy of what the AFC/NORFA TEAM. BUT NOT ALL THE PLAYERS ARE ALL THAT SKILLED COMPARE TO THE U14 WHO ARE TRAINED AND TOO MUCH EXPOSED TO LOCAL GAMES. CONGRATS AFC AND MORE, MORE ACHIEVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES.. KEEP IT UP

  3. I praise the effort of the little ones but its the coach gameplan that resulted in defeat as what I have saw it. He started the strong eleven in the first half but subbed off in the second and extension time which resulted in their loss to the penalty shoot out. The starting eleven was burnt out already playing full 90 in the semifinals a day before the championship while fielding them again almost 80 minutes full in their last game.
In short, the coach doesn't know how to manage the playing time of his players and giving confidence in his second eleven. As a national team coach its a must that they rotate players each game especially if its atraining camp priority rather than the tournament itself.

  5. Angelo Bahoyan was born on February 29, 1996. ;) Yes, he was a member of the Teen Azkals U16 last 2011. Was there a rule saying Angelo Gabriel Bahoyan can't play?

    1. of course they can play, but against a born 1998-1999? they supposed to dominate and play as role models to the young ones. but all they do is impose their rough and tumble strategy because their game is all about long balls and their lungs are not prepared for a full 90 playing toe to toe in attack. They just sat back and play defense most of the time.

    2. BAY, FOR SURE THE TORNAMENT HAS THEIR RULES AND REGULATIONS. THE AFC/NORFA PARTICIPATED BECAUSE THEY MEET THE AGE REQUIREMENTS. BUT WITH REGARDS TO THE TEAMPLAN SA COACH NA YAN.I THINK THE COACH KNOWS WHAT HE WAS DOING. OUTNUMBERED SO DEFENCE;;;;;;;;DEFENCE.

  6. With regards to "dirty tactics", a referee and two assistant referees were present. They did their job.

    1. They did their job but not good enough. If Anthony's FC is not a dirty team then why would many people from Dumaguete always say about the bad things on the team. And why would the team mate of Anthony's coach in ERCO team in Cebu knows the dirty style of him? is it coincidence or is it purely their attitude towards the game. It certainly shows they lack class in Football!!!

    3. ay sus why make the story long? accept the defeat and the young ones has a long way to go.. more trainings, and more more exposure to games. d nalng sigi ug binayut ug estorya nya ataki sa norfa. mura man ka d taga dumaguete nya wala ka kabalo bout AFC? suroy suroy sa ballfield nya pangutana para makabalo ka d kay pasagad ug post lamang. sistah you have to do some research. ingon ana na sistah duna rough play, duna soft play. kabalo pud ka modula ug football or tig tan aw lang ka...

    4. You can say what you want because your team is guilty of doing it and it hurts you sooooo much... It would be a great shame and unbearable for you if your team lost to the younger ones. The Little Azkals had nothing to lose because they are there for their training camp.

    5. ay if mapirde d dawatun unya unsaon man na nidaug ma. nya pirde man ka? unsa gud imo problema sa taga dumaguete or sa afc/norfa? naa ka team na wala daugdaug?

tama! it's a U16 tournament for crying out loud.
clearly these people complaining have no idea what strategy is.
      1. play according to your strengths - they're bigger so it's understandable that they'll be more physically aggressive.
      2. make sure to cover your weaknesses - they only had 13 payers for the entire tournament so it's normal for them to depend on counter-attacks. they don't have the luxury of wasting what energy they have left on running toe to toe with the national team.

    9. It's my opinion your the one who's a real bitch- bee-yatch... My comments make you sleepless because it mirrors you and the Anthonies FC..

      Delete
    10. Yeah, you win right! but does that makes your players satisfied all throughout their lives by beating 2 yrs younger from them? or is it the ones craving for , are the coaches and its parents alike? Poor Anthonies FC the developmental aspect was sacrificed in replaced for glory because it pains the supporters more than the players seeing if they lose to a "UNDER 14 BORN 1998 PLAYERS"!!!
If all of the above you said is all you want in a team football in that category then you better researched how your players are gonna be in the National Team...

    11. bay, pangbantay sa imo gisulti.. sus sigi ka tsabis wa na ka mahimo. yes they are older than the u14 d ba? problema ba na nimo na niapil sila sa under16 na tornament? think bout it? alangan pud ikaw na tigulang makighide and seek ka sa mga bata? hahahhahaha. keep your mouth shut na lang. imo gipadako ang estorya diri. kulang guro ka ug pansin.. kabalo na ko nimo bay.. naa ka kalagot sa mga coaches kay wala ka agi. am i right? well! if ever they are in the national team they are for sure well disciplined kay naa na nila sa gagmay pa lang na. research lagi bay specially sa mga bata na players para pud naa ka infos na correct to the max.

Geli (published in Cebu) is very biased. sorry cebu. we know you still haven't gotten over the fact that anthonie's beat you on the last thirsty cup.

  8. - philippines vs vietnam, chelsea vs barcelona, chelsea vs bayern munich. if you are truly a football fan, you know the very long line of mismatched upsets in history.

    - deserving a win doesn't guarantee that you're going to get it. there's this very thin line between a win and a loss. i bet that's the very reason why we all play.

    - if you are outnumbered, the obvious option is to defend.

    - if the game was poorly officiated, please formally file a complaint to the organizers.

    - so what if the little azkals lost? they wanted a challenge and they got it. don't expect international matches will be any softer. there's a reason why soldiers are trained in boot camps and not in hair salons.

    1. You are right with your comment but I think sa professional level is we need to 'win at all cost' but in the younger ones we should teach them first attacking style and not sulk it in a more defensive manner kasi hindi ma develop yung skill ng players in that age category and that undeveloped skill will be carried out in the adulthood which would cause problem later on when he will play in a big club like UFL.. Just my two cents..

      Delete
    2. what could be a better way to practice attacking than playing against a very defensive team.

      Delete
    3. they are bringing the name of the Philippines for pete's sake! are you trying to say that it's okay for them to lose against other nations? they have to win at all cost to bring honor to the country. as mentioned, you dont expect international matches to be softer.

  11. two words: sore loser

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You're the one who's the loser because your majority of your players only knew how to defend sans attacking style of football. Your players primary target when they grew up wants to be in the National Team and they will not be chosen if someone like u only wants to win depriving the improvements of their skills especially in tight situation because in reality they will be dispersed in to different clubs and teams. I'm only having a constructive criticism for AFC and not maligned it as I want as many players from NORFA to be in the senior AZKALS someday but you are such an ignorant commentator who's only excuse is because "you won" but you know what ? for the younger players we should let them have their skills executed in a clean manner and not a dirty instruction from the coaches.. You only look for the present while I look for the better future of our Philippine Football so we can compete the heavyweights of Asia.

  12. I think the situation calls for it sir.defense....any good coach would do the same thing as what AFC, is doing.you don't join the tournament just to let opponents score..every team went there to get the crown..well sir if AFC we're not down to 9 men...for sure they want to be on the offensive side..we don't call AFC team dirty..the correct term if you're really a football player...playing hard

    ReplyDelete
  13. i understand why you only mentioned one player. maybe because he is the only one familiar to you. but i assure you, he's still 16 and he is playing in a higher level. the little ones should play against players in a higher level for them to be challenged.
