Bahrain take on Philippines in friendly

THE Bahrain national football team will take on the Philippine national team on Friday and the UAE on October 16 in Bahrain as part of their preparations for the West Asia Cup and the 21st Gulf Cup.
The West Asia Cup will be held in Kuwait in December and the Gulf Cup in Bahrain from January 5 to 18.
Bahrain's British coach Peter Taylor has released a list of 28 players for the two friendlies and the team began training last night at the Batelco Staff Centre.
"We are yet to announce the final list for the friendlies. There can be changes in the team depending on the performance of the present list of players in training sessions and the two friendlies,' said Taylor during a Press conference on Monday.
"We are taking the match against the Filipinos seriously. I was, in fact, planning to play two different teams in the two halves, but since the Bahrain Football Association have classified the friendlies as official international friendlies, I cannot go ahead with my plans," added Taylor.
Meanwhile, the working committees of the Gulf Cup continued its preparations on a daily basis to host the ftournament's draw on October 18 at the Bahrain National Museum.
The ceremonies, public relations and transports committees held a joint meeting yesterday to co-ordinate with each other.
The meeting was attended by Ceremonies Committee Chairman Rashid Al Zayani, Public Relations Chairman Mohammed Qassem, Transports Committee Chairman Ali Al Majed, Executive Secretary of the Organising Committee Maryam Yousef and member of the Public Relations Committee Zayna Zuayyed.
They reviewed all arrangements related to the conducting of the draw ceremony and the proposals submitted by heads of these committees, including preparing a list of invitees to attend the ceremony.
