DESPITE giving up a 3-1 loss against Cavite, Baguio City Football Association (BCFA) sneaked in to the All Luzon leg of the Philippine Football federation Smart National Club Open Championship.
The home team BCFA netted a 6-1 victory over Laguna United that saw midfielder Joseph Lingwayon scoring another hat trick, his second in the tournament and the only player to score seven goals and the top goal scorer in the Luzon Cluster A.

Baguio United redeemed its only loss of the tournament with a 6-1 victory over LB United with Ahmed Abubaker brok the ice from a back flip from BUFC target man Mohanna Farah who also scored two goals in the game. Farah played for Pachange FC in UFL Division 2 last season.
“With this qualification and strong showing of the BCFA as represented by Baguio United FC, the City of Baguio, football enthusiasts and private entities are encouraged to help the team prepare for the All-Luzon leg,” said Homer Alinsug of the Baguio United FC squad who represented BCFA.
With the win, BUFC has a record of 4 wins, 1 loss and 0 draw for a total of 12 points, enough to push it through the All-Luzon leg in Laguna in November 16-18, composed of top two teams from Luzon Clusters A and B. The Cluster B leg will be held in Bicol next week.
BUFC will resume training this coming Thursday and will welcome back 3 starters to beef up their line-up.
They will include Mark Lusung (from RP youth team), Friday Okoro (Goshenland Cup MVP) and Ali Kore (Center Back).
“BUFC extends its deepest gratitude to BCFA President Leo Arnaiz for his support for the team, Matthew Frettsome, Savory Chicken and Goshenland. True friends of football in Baguio, let’s support BCFA Baguio United FC,” added Alinsug.
Baguio would have played its last match against San Beda-Rizal FA but the latter abandoned the match with the home team awarded a 3-0 victory.
Flames United of Cavite FA came on top of the Luzon Cluster A leg with an unblemished record of five wins and one draw and now has the distinction of being the first (and perhaps the only) probationary FA to qualify to the next round.
