LONDON -- I may sound very killjoy but there is a big possibility that England's football superstar David Beckham might not play for the LA Galaxy against the Philippine Azkals when they meet in a friendly match in Manila.
The LA Galaxy-Philippine Azkals clash is set on December 3 at the Rizal Memorial stadium, and there are few reasons why Beckham may not suit up for Galaxy.
Beckham's five-year contract with Galaxy is expiring in December and there's a number of European teams running after his services in spite of his very ripe age of 36.
In England alone, the club of his father--the Tottenham Hotspur's--has been courting him since last year. He even tried to get a loan contract with the Spurs and practice with them during the Major League Soccer's (MLS) off-season.
Galaxy and Spurs did not agree with the money and Beckham failed to get a loan deal. Queen's Park Rangers (QPR), now owned by Malaysian billionaire Tony Fernandez is also reportedly trying to get Becks' signature seriously.
But the most serious interest of all comes from outside, England. French League top team Paris St. Germain is bent on signing up Becks. PSG's current Brazilian general manager Leonardo and Becks worked together in AC Milan during his stint with the Italian giants.

he will travel given that he is at the center of Galaxy's business model. if you say it's all about the money for Becks, it is too for the LA team esp on having the tour in PH where most know Beckham more than the name of the team itself. this is just plain speculation.
ReplyDeleteGalaxy uses Beckham as a lure for overseas business. No contract with a club can guarantee the appearance of any individual player.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Big Jack knows more than the PFF are prepared to admit until tickets are sold.
This is just an issue made by Big Jack but its not based on facts and he's the only one that is convinced that Beckham won't come here.
ReplyDeleteBecks contract expires at the end of this month (Nov 2011). And that is a fact. So will he play for LA Galaxy without a contract?
