Powerhouse teams Ceres Liner and Bacolod United registered their second victories by beating their respective opponents in the October 8 games of the 1st Negros First Football Open Championship at Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
Also sporting back-to-back wins in the tournament are Real Negrense and San Carlos City football teams.
With the nucleus of the team coming from West Negros University varsity lineup, Ceres stamped their class in Group B against La Carlota City by blowing away the squad from southern Negros, 18-2.
Earlier, Ceres beat Don Bosco Alumni, 4-2, for their initial win and will clash against Himamaylan City FC on October 22 for their third assignment.
In game against La Carlota, goals for Ceres came from Eliseo Palomo, Jr., in 2nd and 37th minute; Rolando Treyes in 14th and 84th; Lemuel Unabia (25th), Ali Go (34th), Aldrin Dolino (35th), Jake Morallo in 42nd and 78th; Ralph Layumas in 53rd, 54th and 65th; J. Baguioro in 57th, 68th, 82nd and 87th ; Hemerson Campo and Frederick Serios in 72nd and 77th minute.
The two goals for La Carlota were scored by Garylo Talsic and Christian Sario in the 10th and 56th minute.
Bacolod United FC also registered its second by blanking winless Las Buenas, 9-0 in Group A.
Playing for Bacolod FC, former RP mainstay and WNU varsity team current coach Norman Fegidero scored four goals in the 27th, 55th, 78th and 88th minute.
Teammate Jayme Podenso added three goals in 55th, 65th and 80th, while Carlo Lucero and Rodenis Palorino scored in the 2nd and 63rd minute.
It was Bacolod FC’s second win after beating City of Kabankalan, 9-1 on September 17.
After a 1-all draw with Minuluan-Talisay FC, Himamaylan FC outran winless La Castellana for an 8-1 triumph in Group B with Samson Fegidero tallying four goals in 30th, 41st, 80th and 88th minute. Raymond Ostan was the lone scorer for La Castellana.
Meanwhile, Sagay City showed that it’s 9-0 win against Pontevedra on September 24 was no fluke as they registered their second straight victory in Group A.
Games continue this weekend with San Carlos FC and Real Negrense eyeing their third win. San Carlos will face Magallon United in the first game at 7:30 a.m. in Group A, while Real Negrense battles Minuluan-Talisay at 9:30 a.m. in Group B.
Matches in the afternoon will feature two winless teams, Kabankalan and Las Buenas in Group A, and winless Don Bosco Alumni against La Carlota (1-1) in Group B.*
