Davao football - Cherifer to hold bootfest

INTERESTED teams only have until Thursday to confirm their participation in the Cherifer Football Festival slated Saturday and Sunday at the Tionko field.

Each team with 10 players must bring photocopy of players' birth certificates on or before 5 p.m. at the Davao Football Association (DFA) clubhouse at Tionko field.

Davao FA secretary-general Erwin Protacio said the free registration bootfest features the boys and girls 7-A-Side category for players born 1999 and later, mixed boys and girls born 2001 and later, boys and girls born 1995 and later divisions.

He also encouraged children 12 years old and below to be at Tionko and join the games.

FIFA grassroots rules, to be explained before games begin, will be applied in the tournament.

"This festival is part of Davao FA's support for the implementation of the concepts of FIFA's grassroots program that is first of its kind in the country," Protacio said in a statement.

The meet, however, is not only a regular competition as it encourages players to see action in as many games as possible and to have fun in every match.

Players will be guided by coaches trained in the ongoing FIFA Grassroots Pro-Active Course. (MLSA)
