OSHENLAND and Benguet State University Alumni kept their winning streak after scoring one side victory anew during Sunday’s continuation of the first Mayor Mauricio Domogan Football Cup at the Melvin Jones Football grounds.
Baguio’s representative in the upcoming Men's Smart National Open Club Championship this August in Iloilo, Goshenland mangled Pinsao Hard 11 in an 11-0 victory before barely escaping Team Onse, composed of players coming from the Saint Louis University, 3-2.
The win now puts Goshenland ahead by one game in the team standings of the men’s open with four victories.
BSU Alumni is also making its presence felt in the first month long football tournament to be played all weekends of July with seven teams competing in the men's open after edging Baguio City National High School, 6-5, also during last weekends’ play.
Games for the men’s open resume on July 17 at Melvin Jones which starts at 8 am with BCNHS battling Pinsao Hard 11, Team Onse against BSU Varsity then Team Onse-Pinsao Hard 11 in the 1 pm game before the Goshenland - BSU Alumni encounter.
In the 12 under division, BCNHS formally took the first finals seat after beating La Trinidad Central B in a 6-0 victory after topping the eliminations with a 5 win, one loss record.
City High will be joined by Bonifacio A after edging Baguio Hard 11, 1-0, in the other semis pairing last week at the Melvin Jones Football grounds.
Bonifacio A placed second behind City High in the elims with an identical 5 win record with two games drawn, one against BCNHS. La Trinidad Central B and Baguio Hard 11 will dispute the battle for third.
The 10 under contest will also see Goshen Land and Jose P. Laurel B disputing for the crown after disposing separate rivals in their semis match.
Goshen edged Quezon A with a one goal to nil victory while the Laurelians barely made it past Quezon B in a nail biting 1-0 contest. Championship games will be played on July 30 for both the 10 and 12 under.
Meanwhile, registration of teams for 16 under division who wants to join the tournament will be open until July 17, 2011. Games will be held at Melvin Jones Football Grounds on the said date. For more information you may email info@goshenlandcapital.com.
