Malaysia match a physical Philippines side but fail to score

By K. RAJAN

SHAH ALAM: Malaysia and Philippines both claimed they should have won the friendly football match at the Shah Alam Stadium last night.
Both sides said their team played well but in the end the result was 0-0.
Malaysia have themselves to blame as they matched the more physical Philippines team, beefed up by nine Europe based player, and created several chances but could not put the ball away.
Despite the draw national coach Datuk K. Rajagopal prefers to look at the positive side although he admitted his team should have won.
Rajagopal said he was not worried about the result as it was just a friendly game.
“We had our chances of winning the match as we created about 15-16 scoring chances but could not make them count,” said Rajagopal.
“We played well against a very physical team who relied on aerial balls to pressure us. Our players were quite comfortable with their style and they handled the situation well.”
Meanwhile, Philippines head coach Micheal Weiss was critical of the refereeing.
“We need a rethink about having local referees for international matches as one of our players was fouled and it should result in a red card,” said Weiss.
“We played a fantastic game in the first half and had our chances of scoring but were not clinical enough. I’m proud of my boys’ performance against Malaysia, who are the reigning AFF Suzuki Cup champions. We will now focus on our next friendly match against Indonesia.”

Go Azkals. I just looked on how they played the game.
Kahit mataas ang standing natin sa Malaysia pero me reputasyon sila bilang Suzuki Cup 2010 champions.
Kung anjan sina PYH and JYH malakas pa lalo ang fire power natin.
    Yeah.
