"On the other hand, many (homegrown Azkals) have left our local camp angry and swearing not to play for the national team again citing biases and the lack of opportunities"

ReplyDeletewhich one you referring to....the local will not play or the tension regarding the biases....
Not good enough sila eh paano ba yan? Pag banban ka forget it!
5 minutes lang out of 40 minutes laro go mas dominated nang mas magagaling sa akin.
Mabigat ang responsibility nang coach to use his team properly and he must be decisive to get a win. Tanong, bakit pa tayo naglalaro kung gusto natin matalo lang, syempre gusto natin manalo at si Coach Weiss gagamitin nya lahat ang mga tao niya to win for the Philippines.
Pangalawa, yung player gaya ko dati, whether I play or not I have to support the team and support the coach.
Pangatlo, TEAM TAYO. PILIPINAS TAYO. DAPAT ANO MAN MANGYARI, MATALO O MANALO. NUNG NCAA, SA MAPUA MAY CHANT KAMI PARA SA TEAM NOON, "MATALO MANALO, BUGBOG KAYO". KASI MINSAN NATATALO AT NANANALO PERO FULL SUPPORT PA DIN KAMI SA TEAM. WALANG KUNG ANONG INIISIP ANG BAWAT MEMBERS AT MGA SUPORTERS KASI DARATING DIN ANG TIME NAMIN NA MAG-CHAMPION. GAYA SA PILIPINAS SUPORTAHAN NATIN SILA. SANA WAG NA TAYO MAG-ISIP NANG KUNG ANONG BAGAY NA MAKAKASAMA SA TEAM NATIN. IISANG TEAM LANG TAYO.
YUNG MGA KAPATID NATIN NA FIL-FOREIGNERS, NANDITO SILA PARA TUMULONG SA TEAM AT YUN ANG NASA ISIP NILA.
ISIPIN NATIN PASULONG AT HINDI PAATRAS. TEAM PILIPINAS TAYO. MATALO O MANALO (SWERTE NGA SA FOOTBAL ME TABLA) OR TABLA.
u r ryt my friend! but bcoz we have a meeting ryt now, i will explain to everybody why i agree w/ u...ATLETICO MAGALLON-MUFC
ReplyDeletelook what is happening to our grassroots now or shall we say young national teams.....di ba wiping boys pa rin.......kahapon lang 9-1 tayo sa thailand........hay nako naman babalik ba tayo sa old days natin na minamaliit tayo ng ibang bansa pagdating sa football???????? wake up at imulat nyo naman sana sa katotohunan ang prinsipyong yan.
ReplyDeleteLets take the case basketball - the most popular team sports in PH which is supposedly a sport we can be proud to say we excel in - but how many Fil-foreigners were in our Smart Gilas national team - 50 or 60% ? Considering that this is even a sport where a million kids play in the streets and where many could have "qualified". Did the Philippine-born players or anybody for that matter raise a howl against Coach Toroman and our basketball officials? Nada. And why not? Because we want to send the best of the Filipinos and we want to win. Is it hard to admit that we are not in the same level as these Fil-foreigners who started their careers at the age of 3 yrs old and taught with proper fundamentals of the sport that most local basketball or football players lack. We can never be as good as them unless we play against better players both internally and externally. That's what has happened the last 50 years and do we want to be in the same rut again. Winning means more exposure for the sport which eventually equates to more sponsors, more commerical leagues, more money for PFF's programs. Sorry to say, our players now - whether in basketball or football are not as good as those based abroad.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you mention the height factor as one of the reasons we get Fil-foreigner basketball players, consider this: before Neil Etheridge who stands 6'3", our national team keeper was Mike Casas who stands 5'5". Borromeo then was our tallest national player at 6'1" and he had to run all the way to the other end for corners...
Coach Weiss is not responsible for training anyone, he is responsible for training players who already are the best at what they do.
--
To address po yung lack of professionalism ng mga homegrown players na naging angry because they haven't got a chance to play, maybe instead of becoming frustrated and feeling ignored and underappreciated, baka po pwedeng i-channel nalang po itong energy na ito sa training para po maging better players po sila. I believe heavily on self-reliance, that anyone can be anything they want to be as long as they work hard for it, and I believe that with enough hard work, ang home-grown players po natin na medyo nasa disadvantage dahil hindi na nourish and talent nila, ay kayang rin sabayan ang iba po nating fil-foreign players. It's all about hard-work.

I hope I don't start any arguments~ *Sorry for my misspellings, I hate proof-reading.
To anonymous 09:08,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that we should put in the best players possible fil-foreigners or homegrown as long as we win. I dont care what they say a win is a win especially at the highest level. Ask the homegrown players what happened in San Carlos City especially in the training how Coach Weiss discriminate the homegrown from the fil-foreigners.
To give you an example, why is there separation of players (homegrown and fil-foreigners) in the training doing the same drill Coach Weiss handling the fil-foreigners while the filipino assistant coaches handling the homegrown players. This is a camp wherein Coach Weiss should have a hand in selecting the players whom he believes compliment his strategies.
To Anonymous 9:08. If what you are saying is true about the seperation between homegrown and fil foreiners in the training camp, then the cosch needs to be sacked.. However, I have some extreme doubts in believing that what you are saying is true. First of all, Weiss has always stressed that cohesion is the most important thing they want to achieve in order to be succesful. I can't believe that he can't see that this can be achieved by seperating the players, which would be reckless given tha fact that Chieffy, a home grown player is our captain. The only thing that can make this understandable in any way is the language barrier, as the home growns speak very little english. But even this wouldnt make sense as they could learn it by training and communicating with the other team members. I doubt that they are being sorted out according to skill..Chieffy and Araneta are way better imo than lets say bahadoran and clarino on their respective positions.
ReplyDeleteThe best way to get first hand information is to talk to patrick deyto or arnie pasinabo or ruben doctora. What do you think is the reason why doctora did not go to bacolod with the team to play in the 4 team friendly?
ReplyDeleteif it's ture they left the camp ...then it is very unprofessional....and so they wouldn't deserve a slot in the team. we should always field our best players and at the moment our euro based players are the better ones.....before leaving the camp they should ask themselves how to become better players instead of acting so naive. in every national teams players are invited and know they won't have a chance to be chosen in the starting eleven....but they don't leave the team and instead of that they work harder to earn a slot ....that's professionalism which seems that many so called native players lack...and apart of that: with our euro based players we would still be the whipping boys of SEA and ASIA....even with our good players we have a hard fight with our local neighbours....and without them we would have no chance even to get a draw. For me it all players are Filipinos no matter where they were born....we should support them and be proud of them....and not always start such ridiculous discussions about "home grown" or "foreigners"...it sounds like they are two classes of men.
ReplyDeleteThe usage of 'homegrown' and 'non homegrown' is legitimate and can't avoided! There is no discrimination or anything or like that when using those terms!
DeleteIt's divisive however.
DeleteMost fans of any emerging football nation NT naturally believe things can only get better.
ReplyDeleteAzkaleros may have to wait a little longer than most.
This is PHI; nepotism and favoritism is going to happen in sport the same as it does in any other activity but it's pointless to blame 'discrimination' for what's going on under Weiss.
Football's no different to any other skill; it
takes time, training and experience to be fully competent and all Fil-fors have had that since early schooldays.
This doesn't mean homegrown players should despair. None of the current squad are more gifted than average and the PFF has already searched the world for fresh faces. No new ones will be appearing anytime soon.
There are of course undiscovered gems out there but the simple fact that they have not
approached [or have declined invitations from] Manila means they prefer to play in and for their country of domicile.
This means homegrown players will be carrying the NT torch in the future. Unfortunately there will be a crippling shortage of fuel as long as the PFF keeps concentrating most resources on international image and the only real football league is in the capital.
Now the Ilonggos are being discriminated by the coach? They should tell that to Luzon and Mindanao born players trying out for the national team 10 years ago. Now its the other way around and they can't hack it boo hoo.
ReplyDeletefully agree with you with what happened before. especially if the NT coach is from Iloilo or Negros.
Deletea dose of your own medicine
DeleteIf you read bleachers brew, Rick was referring to Anto Gonzales.
ReplyDeleteumuwi si deyto and pasinabo dahil may game archers
ReplyDeleteI really don't think there is a basis for this at all. Think about it, how come J de Jong hasn't been seen playing lately and just sitting on the bench? Do you see what I mean? So the allegation that there is discrimination against the locals is clearly not supported by evidence. Weiss is using whoever he thinks suited well for the game plan and that's all. One more thin, I think the local players should use this as a motivation because this now a competition within the team to grab one of the 11 spots. Be a man and accept the challenge. The NT pool is getting deeper and that's another thing that our players need to understand; compition for the position is now much higher than before.
ReplyDeleteyou're right, include Reichelt in the list. he never got to play but did not take it negatively. that's professionalism. sadly, yung ibang mga "homegrown" natin (AGAIN, NOT ALL), appreciation nila is that they should have more right and deserves preferential treatment just because dito sila based. the inferiority complex always sets in kung di sila napipili and will cry discrimination.
Deletekahit naman kasi i tale-of-the-tape comparison yan, kulang pa talaga sila compared sa foreign based azkals.
ito namang mga writers are sensationalizing the issue, they did not mention about foreign trained/born azkals included in the line-up na bench warmers lang. hahaaay....
i think the theme here is the philippines' reliance on everything foreign..that foreign is good, filipino is bad and needs training in your colonized brain.
ReplyDeleteThink of it in terms of our football program is still in its infancy. Case in point, look at the U23's performance. We simply can not afford to have local players get killed in the field. In short to medium term we need our foreign based Azkals to just compete while we wait till our local football program to mature. It will take at least ten years to see better quality players.
DeleteSo stop deficating your comments.
futbolpunx, I know what you are pointing out, as the saying goes "the grass is always greener on the other side". And this statement does not hold true in Philippines alone. It's true everywhere. But in this case, the fil-fors are just a bit better, and this fact should not be negative, instead, our homegrowns should look at this as motivation to get better and match the quality of play that our fil-fors provide.
DeleteAs a developing nation, we can only hope and work for our dreams. Dispel nagativity and anguish, focus on the target at hand.
100 % correct football is a team image and group skills, talent. disciplined and commitment, the problem of some Pinoys, are having insecurities attitude don't look for individuality skills and talent..its a TEAMWORK plus factors are an individual skills and talent.. once you are a professional player, you should be happy either you played or not as long as you are still part of the team, whatever the outcome of every game consider yourself that you are the part of it, failure or success but you are one of them... this is the character of a true AZKALS players... don't felt any negative things just support your teammates and enjoy the whole game and be proud..
DeleteFil-Fors and Homegrowns are all Filipinos they played with dedications for the love and honor of our country the Philippines
We hope, this kind of issues had no place in the mind of every Filipinos....lets move forward and learn the best things from other players which you think he is better than you, much more experienced than you considering as your idol then developed, improved your skills and talent.. let the people discover your talent and ability instead forget yous insecurities.... as a homegrown players..be thankful and satisfied for where you are now...." Football is the name of the GAME "...thanks
Me reklamo pa ba kayo diyan. Sino ba ang dapat i-commend, e di yung buong team, mula kay Coach Weiss, Dan Palami, team management (asst. coaches & assts managers), ALL players (ALL with FILIPINO blood in their veins), ALL Fans, media, financial supporters and other commercial supporters.
Besides, Coach Weiss doesn't believe in "half-this, half-that". He does not discriminate and make distinctions. The guy's married to a Japanese woman, for crying out loud. His kids are "half-half" too. Why would he be racist?
