AFC U22 - Philippines 0-9 Vietnam !

Yangon: Vietnam got their first win when they thrashed the Philippines 9-0 on match day 3 of the AFC U-22 Championship Group G qualifiers in Yangon on Thursday.

The Filipinos did not have a chance with the Lu Dinh Tuan-led side very much in total control of both halves with four of their players having scored a brace each.

Nguyen Dinh Bao opened the scoring after 18 minutes and added his second in the 67th minute, with MH Quan (25th, 27th minutes), Ngo Hoang Thinh (30th, 52nd), substitute Le Quoc Phuong (64th, 89th) and HV Thanh (82nd), also a substitute, adding to the tally.

In earlier games, Vietnam lost 2-1 to Chinese Taipei and 3-1 to Myanmar and are now at fifth position while John Pomar Carmona’s winless side are residing at the bottom of the group.

An own goal by Chen Yen-jui helped Malaysia win 4-2 over Chinese Taipei in their rainy match with Malaysian midfielder Rozaimi Abdul Rahman getting in a brace in the 8th and 41st minutes, while Saarvindran Devandrn put the third touch for the Malaysia Tigers in the 78th minute.

The Chen Jiunn-ming-led side tried to get back with contributions by Lin Chang-lun after 50 minutes and Wen Chih-hao who scored during extra time but it proved a little too late for the East Asians.

With their latest performance, the Malaysians jumped to third spot from fourth, the latter position taken over by Chinese Taipei.

In the third match in the group, group leaders Korea Republic drew 0-0 with second-positioned Myanmar, with both teams having accumulated seven points, with goal difference separating them.

Phil. football kicked-out the Serbian coach and replace by a Filipino coach who don't have enough experience in international matches. I'm sure the players are talented but the coachings are unqualified.

  3. i do agree with you juan de la cruz. its a waste of big money and the coaching staff arte just there for a vacation. they don't mind winning or losing. john carmona its alright yet the assistants are good in dramas especially glen ramos. he was coaching the under-16 before yet it was a big failure. i reviewed their games and most lapses are to be blamed on coach ramos. i guess he will be coaching again the U-17 or U-18. why can't the PFF replace him? can you still remember the u-16 teams that played in bacolod and laos? its all about politics and not the players ability. PFF wants to join intyernational tournaments as there are lots of money to be pocketed. they don't even encourage the FA's to hold tournaments for the youngs to gain experience.

  4. we should accept the truth that with out the help of our foreign players philippine football is a shit.........how many years we are receiving this results.....enough is enough........PFF should open their eyes and please if you continue sending teams just to have a vacation and happy holidays ...and nothing to do but..........its ok to lost but not in this score line........other countries are saying what kind of team we are sending its like inter barangay players....

  5. i dont know how they are coaching/training the team. these guys can kick the ball and defend yet look at the scores. its alright losing but not with this margin. PFF is glad to participate in as many international tournaments as kickbacks will full their pockets. almost all of the PFF officers are big crocodiles including the FA heads. Mr. Araneta, please introduce a new coaching staff if ever you are to assemble a new team. GLEN RAMOS SHOULD BE OUT FOR ANY FUTURE TEAM. Let new and aggressive coach handle the team. He is a big bobo.we want a competitive team like the senior azkals

  6. This is a reality result, AFC U22 qualifying is one of a big event in football world, our U22 performance is 100% POOR, what they learned from the CAMP before the tournament ? did the coaching staff take this seriously ? they have also some international friendly matches, saan sila nag kukulang? the scoreline is very embarrassing the section of players, the selection of coaching is not qualified professionally all are useless and that is the result., the playing performance is POOR.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I wasn't expecting that much from the U22 but this scoreline is just embarrassing. Even during the training there were issues with the coaching staff. Players have enough skills to show a decent performance but the results show coaching staff in ability to make tactical adjustments. If the coaching staff doesn't have the trust of the players then John Carmona as thea head coach should resign out of delicadeza. The head coach should lead the way.

  8. Any coach can make a good team better but no coach can make a poor team good if the players are already older than their mid teens.

F--- all this PFF wasted money, time and embarrassment on worthless international tournaments & training and fight for national & local governments to pump resources into grassroots development.

  9. Good coaches have the ability to make a good team better but great coaches have the ability to make a poor team excel far beyond expectations.

Obviously, John Carmona doesn't have the credentials to represent the country in a high profile tournament. PFF should invest more on our U13/14 program.

    1. That first sentence, for the most part reeks of ignorance! You make it seem like you can just snap your fingers and be able to have a "great" coach and from there everything will just fall into place! lol!! It's nowhere near that simple!

    2. Sorry, but I just noticed that the comment you responded never mentioned or implied for things to go that easy with "good/great" coaches. Lol. He merely said has or have the ability to make a crappy team do better or exceed expectations. You need to read better and calm your nerves before responding incorrectly. Lol... Cheers, mate.

    3. I need to read better?!?! LMAO!! You clearly need to reply better because you don't make sense!! lol!

The fact that "Manong Kulas" comments about "good coaches" vs "great coaches" and then talks about the current coach (Carmona) not having the credentials, he's CLEARLY implying that if we had a "great coach", we wouldn't be experiencing these humiliating situations. And that is clearly being ignorant which I said so above and if you had any brains you'd know I'm right! So I don't know what you're on about!

And cheers?!? pfff... I say piss off!!

  10. I hope its about time to get Foreign head Coach with best credentials, expert and professional in handling the National Team, local coach had nothing to do, they are not competent enough, that is the reality, if we want to have a strong team it depend on the coaching staff ability, strategy and game plan,Recently, our Senior Azkal National Team had a great accomplishment, under the supervision of Mr. Weiss (coach)and our ASIAN neighbor are interested to challenge us, because of what they saw last AFC challenge Cup 2012, The Philippine Football are past moving up in FIFA world ranking, but if we will not take any necessary action about the outcome of our U22 national Team, its better to stop of dreaming, the scoreline 9-0,7-0,5-1, what a very Poor playing performance EVER...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Interesting. It seems to be consensus that the players are decent enough and the coaches are always the first to blame and take majority, if not all of the blame. Why can't people accept the fact that some or even most of the players just aren't good enough?!? Seriously! Yes, there are a few that might be considered decent as individuals but for the most part, especially as a team, they're just not good enough and a "great" coach would barely change that. We've barely had any pedigree outside of the senior national team and this campaign of the U22's so far shouldn't be a surprise!

  12. the scoreline is embarrassing talaga. mukhang nagbakasyon lang sila at naglaro. Are they reviewing the history of the coaches and the players.

  13. Its the fault of the Technical Department of the PFF actually headed by Aris Caslib. John Carmona who has no good credentials at all except for a B license, he has not handled a team for years (he is the grassroots coordinator for the Visayas). I dont know what is the motive of Caslib designating people who are not competent enough in a very sensitive job. First it was Glen Ramos, Glen made a very bad account of himself in 2 tournaments being the coach of the U16 and looks like he is going to handle the U19 National Team. Now, here comes Carmona.

I wonder why Caslib and Maro dont handle the National Teams. They are "A" license. Are they afraid that they will be exposed?

  15. Great debate guys but all hairy-assed coaches like me are in agreement about one thing: if a player is not showing above-average talent by the age of 16 he never will.

Example: Many players in Euro premier leagues are pretty useless shooting or passing with their 'wrong' foot. These are professionals with all the time and facilities to improve the weaker parts of their play. Why don't they? Because they can't. Luckily they have enough wizardry in their one foot - and most importantly their football brain - to stay at the top. Imagine if Messi/Robbens/Giggs etc had the two-footed shooting power and accuracy of Ballotelli?

The lesson for all aspiring youths is simple: practise your socks off learning all the basic skills then practise again in your bare feet if necessary. After that, decent standard coaching and match experience will allow you to open the door which leads to the top.

    1. "if a player is not showing above-average talent by the age of 16 he never will."

This is why I said above that people need to accept that the players just aren't good enough and not just blame the lack of a quality coach. No matter how "great" a coach is, if the players at their disposal are shyte, as is the case with our U22's and even other youth teams, then there's only so much that can be done! It will also remain this way for some time to come.

      Delete
    2. So, from the beginning the selection of players is responsible if not the coach but even if we have best players if our coach had no great "ideas" the players had to follow what the coach give him the instructions, as long the scoreline is concerned totally our U22 is not yet doing good, maybe the only thing we can do right now is to learned from this "POOR" PERFORMANCE ...next time study the best talented players and best coach with great credentials...

  17. these hairy-assed coaches and pff have done nothing for the team and for the country. its just for the sake of participating the U-22 tournament and how much perks they are to receive not to mention the kickbacks. these guys have betrayed our country. the players are not new to football and they can dribble, pass, kick and defend the goal. what a shame on the the scores made by the opposing team. Mr. Araneta, are you not ashamed of the results. Get and try another competent coach. we can find then in bacolod, iloilo and ncr. Please get rid of Glen Ramos coaching a team. there are good and competent players in Manila and even the visayas who are not included in the try-outs for the under-18. Please i dont wanna see Ramos coaching the youth team as he failed in the past tournaments. though he's got a license, he still dont know how to coach a team for international level. yes how come the hartmann was not included in the team? are they accomodating players who can give under-the-table?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Most of our players doesn't have the skill set for this tournament but they are definitely not as bad as the scoreline shows. In a different note, the players were suspended because some of them were trying to make suggestions to the coach and Carmona and company found this intrusive.

Like any other job coaching needs experience, preferably with a fully qualified quality mentor.
None of these exist yet in PH so fans will just have to accept that like football itself officialdom is still in the nursery stage and many moons will pass before players and coaches and that deadly poison you politely call 'politics' reach an acceptable level.

  41. Here is one story about France, French Football Federation and others,

[[In the 2010 FIFA World Cup, France continued to perform under expectations and were eliminated in the group stage. Midway through the competition, striker Nicolas Anelka was dismissed from the national team after reportedly having a dispute, in which obscenities were passed, with team manager Raymond Domenech during half-time of the team's loss to Mexico. The resulting disagreement over Anelka's explusion between the players, the coaching staff, and federation officials resulted in the team boycotting training. The negative publicity the national team received during the competition led to further repercussions back in France. The day after the team's elimination, it was reported by numerous media outlets that the President of France Nicolas Sarkozy would meet with team captain Thierry Henry to discuss the issues associated with the team's meltdown at the World Cup. The meeting was requested by Henry. Following the completion of the competition, federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes resigned from his position. Domenech was also let go and former international Laurent Blanc was inserted as his replacement. On 23 July 2010, on the request of Blanc, the federation suspended all 23 players in the World Cup squad for the team's friendly match against Norway after the World Cup. On 6 August, five players who were deemed to have played a major role in the 2010 FIFA World Cup training boycott were disciplined for their roles.]]
