De Jong apologizes to Azkals

MANILA, Philippines –After being dropped by the Philippine Azkals due to disciplinary issues, Jason de Jong is now getting a second chance to prove himself.

The Filipino-Dutch midfielder said he has apologized to Azkals Coach Michael Weiss.

"I had some issues with my club before, but now I spoke to Coach Weiss and we cleared the air," De Jong said.

He added he was happy to be back with the Azkals.

But Coach Weiss said he will test De Jong first before putting him back on the team.

"We will test him in Bahrain, and see what he brings to the team," Weiss said.

"We had different opinions on issues. But he apologized to me, to the management, and to the team," Weiss added, saying that now there were no more problems.

The Azkals coach said De Jong had the experience that the football team will need in their next match against higher-ranked Kuwait. With a report from Dyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN News
