Tuesday, May 22, 2012
MEDVIL Football Club standout Jomar Mapait Acedo left for San Carlos City, Negros Occidental to join the rest of the U-22 Philippine national football team's training camp for the upcoming U-22 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup Group Qualifiers in Vietnam next month.
Medvil head coach Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon, in an e-mailed statement to Sun.Star Davao Monday, said Acedo left Davao via Cebu City at 10:45 a.m. in the morning. He was expected to arrive in Negros by around 3 p.m.

The Emar Human and Environmental College pride Acedo, a five-time Palarong Pambansa performer, will train under newly-appointed U-22 coach John Carmona.
He also formed part of the Under-19 national team that competed in Myanmar under Yuraguayan coach Maor Rozen.
The seasoned booter steered the Davao Region Athletic Association's gold medal finish in the 2010 Palaro in Tarlac, silver win in 2011 Palaro in Dapitan City and bronze victory in 2008 Palaro in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
"He is a grassroots product of Medvil. He started playing football when he was 11 years old under Medvil FC manager Rafael "Pops" Vilela," Carreon said.
Vilela coached the Emar team nine years ago.
Acedo struck for six goals in the just-concluded PFF U-23 Suzuki Cup Regional Qualifying and is expected to spark Medvil Davao in the Mindanao Finals set in January next year. (MLSA)

  2. It's nice to hear such news that we have grassroots player. We have been developing players but I hope we continue supporting these young turks specially through media exposure aside from financial support.
If more people like me realize that we have good players. we will support every game of footbal here in the Philippines.
