FOOTBALL clubs of Cebu-based companies will be the main highlight of the open competition in the sixth European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Football Cup today at the Cebu International School.
This year, the event atracted 29 teams, seven more than last year.
“We limit it to employees of companies because we want to foster team-building through the sport of football,” said Cahea Ang of ECCP-Cebu.
Aside from companies based at the Cebu IT Park, teams coming from Mepza like Timex Phils. Inc., Lexmark Mactan, Tsuneishi Heavy Industries Cebu Inc. and Makoto Metal Technology Inc. also signed up.
Men’s open defending champion NCR Cebu Development Center will gun for a three-peat this year while Convergys will return to defend its ladies open title.
ECCP vice president and chairman of the Football Cup Erik Nielsen said they plan to bring in the winning team from Cebu to face the Manila champions in a match.
