Azkals' Weiss asks for support, not negativity

MANILA, Philippines - Azkals head coach Michael Weiss hopes that the team's masterful performance against a higher-ranked Nepal side will push more people to support the national football team.

The Azkals dominated Nepal en route to a 4-nil victory last Tuesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

In the post-match interview, Weiss said the team's victory proved they are capable of beating even higher ranked teams, and asked for more support instead of negative comments about the Azkals.

"All the people who were trying to push the coaching staff down in the past and made comments that were unnecessary, I hope they realize we are seriously working," Weiss said. "I hope they realize and keep on supporting instead of putting a negative mentality into the team."

Weiss was visibly happy about the result of the match, and said he was especially proud of striker Phil Younghusband, who scored two goals during the match.

"I'm very happy and very proud of Phil Younghusband. He gave critics the right answer and proved that he's a top, high-profile striker," he said.

It was not the first time that coach Weiss had slammed the Azkals' critics, having also responded to people who questioned his decisions regarding the Azkals' World Cup qualifiers against Kuwait.

"The people who make these comments, they don't know what's going on in the training," Weiss said at the time.

  2. That's why I don't read pinoy exchange football section anymore. Lousy comments and thrash talking.

  3. Pinoyexhange puro crap criticisms. Ok lng ang criticism pero put it in a constructive form.

They surely know and understand football. They put their comments and criticism in a very constructive way.

  13. you guys seriously have to stop using the words crab mentality. for obviously you don't know what it means. ang pagka-intindi niyo sa crab mentality is having views different than yours. eh hindi naman yan ang meaning niyan eh.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crab_mentality
describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you."
The analogy in human behavior is that of a group that will attempt to "pull down" (negate or diminish the importance of) any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of envy, conspiracy or competitive feelings.

so sa tingin niyo we're pulling e-yan down cos we envy him? lols
now tell us where in our posts, opinions showed crab mentality? does our wanting araneta out of the nt shows our selfishness? we want him out kasi sayang ang slot niya and he's taking precious experience time for the new players kasi pinapasok siya.
so tell me is it crab mentality when we want what's good for our team?
weiss has been underperforming despite the fact he has a talented roster compared to macca's. cohesion is a problem not exclusive to weiss only kasi problema rin yan sa panahon ni macca.

    masyado lang kayong maarte!
kami kasi we don't sugarcoat things, we say what we see.

so again so tell me is it crab mentality when all we want is what's good for our team?

And once they hate a player / staff, hate na nila forever, no matter how much they have improved. For instance: maganda laro ni Chieffy before the Nepal games, pero nilalait pa rin nila.

    ReplyDelete
I remember there was a thread or a post there about "dapat ng ipatapon si Caligdong."
