UFL : Nomads hire Scottish manager
United Football League squad Nomads Auction Manila has hired Scottish John Jofre as its new manager for the upcoming League competition.
Jofre, who had stints as a club manager in leagues in China and Scotland, will take over the post vacated by Michael Denison, who resigned from his post last October in protest of bad officiating in the league.
After his appointment, Jofre bared his plans for the squad.
“My short-term goal is to solidify Nomads as a 1st Division club, and my long term goal is to win the 1st Division,” he said in a statement. “I am very excited about this challenge, and I can’t wait for the season to get started.”
Team captain Randy Musters also expressed his confidence with Jofre.
“We’ve known him for a long time and know the way he likes his teams to play football,” he said. “He’s very experienced, as he’s coached and played football all around the world.”
“Hopefully his football knowledge can bring us to the next level!”
Nomads finished seventh in its Division 1 debut in League competition last year, while it fell short of qualifying to the Cup quarterfinals last November due to inferior goal differential.
The League competition is expected to start on January next year.
