Azkal striker Angel Guirado shown the door by Salgaocar FC

In a bid to improve its luck in the ongoing I-league, Salgaocar FC have released Philippines national football team striker Angel Guirado mid-season.

Angel was an important member of the Azkal who went up to the semis of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 and recently returned from the national duty. But as soon as he landed in Goa, he was asked to leave.

Salgaocar are deep in the relegation zone at 14th among as many teams after having played 11 rounds. They lack the firepower upfront and for the same reason, Sean Rooney was released earlier.

Salgaocar officials say that the management was unhappy with his below average performance and that he had been away for national duty for far too long.

The club is looking to sign Josimar Martins, a Brazillian striker.

    1. read about his debut. if he is of filipino descent then this would be awesome even more if he would once be playing for the azkals.....but i have my doubts as I guess he tries everything to join once the French NT.....he probably will get interested in our NT when his priority goals will fail.....
but just imagine: Neal Maupay and Javier Patino (Cordoba CF) as reinforcements for our NT....would be great.
the only problem again: they both would be again unavailable when we have our important matches

  2. He can try as hard as he comes, but in the end it comes to what the coaches think, and how he will progress in the future. He can be good now, but it can also happen that his progression stops and so on. If this happens, there might be a chance that he will pick the azkals as he wont have any chance of making the french NT.

Lets not forget what Denis Cagara said a few years back, "im danish, not filipino" as an answer to the question if he wanted to play for the Philippines. He was then still talented, played in the Bundesliga, and was one of the contenders to take a spot on the danish NT, but then his career took a turn, a negative turn. Injuries, not playing that much, and had to relocate to Denmark to get playing time. He then changed his mind coz he is no where the level he was at before. And also, the azkals gained a lot of popularity.

So, never give up on hope, if this kid indeed is filipino.

  3. Ouch that hurts!!! Our National team are second choices for players abroad who aren't pick for their nation while are homegrown players wants to be the first choice to represent our flag and country but they are not the PFF priority.

    1. how can we inspire kids to play football when the quality of play that we show is very low? we are still in the "hunting-gathering" stage so let's appreciate what we are currently receiving and continue to raise the skill level of our local kids.

    2. some people just dont see the big picture. and a lot of these idiots are ilonggos. the truth is, they only want to see ilonggos in the national team so they can make yabang na may ilonggo doon so proud. if the national team happens to be all local but all from luzon and mindanao, these ilonggos will be the first to say "hey, how come there is not one player from barotac? we are considered the best blah blah blah".

      fuck ilonggos. fuck them.

    1. hey fvcktard, football is not about roots. this is about skill set and good footballing in general. What happened is that the Filipino people got fed up in fielding losers on the field and bringing dishonor, as laughable bunch on the field, instead of honor and respect. There have been few foreign-born players that have been deselected repeatedly for showing subpar ability. So this is not about your stupid theory. I'll take one stephan Schrock over 100 jokers anytime. Now do you see the logic??? Perhaps you never will because you are blinded by your arrogance and foolish, over-zeal, patriotism (which in the end it's not really about patriotism but rather just foolish belief because these foreign-born filipinos are filipinos too and representing the nation).
