THE friendly match between the Cebu Queen City United and the US Navy will be moved to Dec. 31, at 3 p.m., at the Aboitiz Sports Field instead of on Sunday.
The match has to be rescheduled because the US Navy officers’ arrival in the country was delayed by Typhoon Quinta.
On board USS Gridley, an Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer, the team will be docking in
Cebu for a goodwill visit.
The visit and the friendly match are part of their community outreach program.
Originally, it was announced that the Cebu Amateur Football Club-Queen City United-B will play the Mexican-American amateur players.
However, it was later confirmed that Cebu Queen City United - A will be taking on the US Navy selection this Monday.
Members of the Cebu Football Association board are expected to grace the friendly match that will cap this year’s busy round of games.
The game was supposed to be the main highlight for this Sunday’s Aboitiz Cup matches featuring the men’s open and the quarterfinals of the inter-company division.
Since they can’t play on Sunday, Don Bosco Razkals and Cebu Amateur Football Association-A will take over their time slot.
The other matches in the men’s open will be between Don Bosco United FC-A against FCIC and Avengers FC taking on Toledo Harumi of bracket C.
Don Bosco United FC-B will face DB Magone, while San Roque FC will challenge B-Meg Camellans of bracket B.
The team had recently qualified to the round of 16 national finals of the PFF-Smart Club Championships. It is set to take on Pachanga FC.
