VICTORIAS City Selection escaped Talisay City-Minulu-an squad during the finals via penalty shootout, 2-1 to bag the boys' open category of the 1st Javi Benitez 7-Aside Invitational Football Festival over the weekend at the Canetown Subdivision football pitch.
Meanwhile, host Javi Benitez Football Team settled for 2nd runner-up after defeating Don Bosco Alumni, 1-0.
On the other hand, Executive Village Football Club defeated Talisay-EVFC in the finals 2-0 behind the team of Carmela Lizares, Aina Martin, Angel Masmilla, Sean Adenix, Mira Mae Nonato, Leah Molinos, Pangging Silava, Natasha de Asis, Deborah Randall, coach Warren Concepcion and assistant coaches Renel de Oca and Jun Jun Valderama.
Vmag-La Carlota, meanwhile, finished 2nd runner-up following a victory over Victorias City Selection, 1-0.
The event was earlier graced by chieftain Carlos Quitchon, SK chair Thea Durino, Mary Ann Dino of Albee Benitez Foundation, Javi Benitez and Fr. Broderick Norman Segovia, SD, rector of DBTI -Victorias.
