The Philippine national men’s Under-23 football team will play in a series of friendly matches against its Singapore counterparts this year.
The U-23 Azkals will face Singapore on June 13 in the city-state, while the date of their home match has not yet been decided.
“Philippines and Singapore will still discuss and agree on (the date of the U-23 Azkals’ home leg),” Philippine Football Federation general secretary Ed Gastanes told InterAKTV.
While the final composition of the team has not been announced, some players of the Azkals who can join the U-23 squad have been suiting up for some of the national team’s matches as preparation for the Southeast Asian Games later this year.
Members of the Azkals pool who are eligible to play for SEA Games include Jason De Jong, Joshua Beloya, Marwin and Marvin Angeles, Manny and Mike Ott, Matthew Uy, Jeffrey Christiaens, OJ Porteria, Jinggoy Valmayor, Neil Etheridge, Patrick Deyto and Paolo Pascual, among others.
The match is part of the Under-23 Azkals’ preparations for the 27th SEA Games slated in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar in December.
