Stallion Sta.Lucia aims to stamp its dominance as it guns for the United Football League championship against the Loyola Meralco Sparks Tuesday at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill in Taguig.
Stallion tries to clinch the League title as it takes on Loyola at 7:30 p.m.
Sitting on top of the standings with 45 points, Stallion just needs a victory to annex its first League crown and its second straight title this season after winning the Cup competition last December.
“We’re gonna go all out,” Stallion coach Ernie Nierras said. “Our strategy is every single game, we have to treat it as a championship game .”
Stallion’s road to the title became easier after the Sparks pulled off a 2-0 upset against then championship frontrunner Global FC last Thursday.
The result put defending champion Global, which has 40 points in 16 matches, behind in the title race, needing Stallion to lose or draw its last match against the Sparks to keep its defense bid alive.
With the Sparks out of the championship picture already, Nierras warned against complacency versus Loyola, which they beat, 4-2, last April 9.
“I always respect my opponents, that is our philosophy,” Nierras said. “We always have to play our best.”
In the first match, Nomads FC hopes to stay away from the regulation zone as it clashes with Green Archers United Globe at 5:15 p.m.
A victory will help Nomads, which at eighth place with 13 points, continue its Division One stint next season as it avoids being overtaken by Philippine Army, which is at ninth place with seven points in 15 matches.
Meanwhile, Green Archers, which has 21 points, aims to finish its season strong and cement its place at the sixth spot.
AksyonTV, TV5′s 24-hour news and sports-related channel, airs the live coverage of the matches at 5 p.m. on Channel 41 in Metro Manila and Channel 29 in Cebu and Davao.
