CFA ready to host Azkals friendly

Saturday, June 1, 2013
THE Cebu Football Association (CFA) is ready to host another friendly match
once given the go signal by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) but the board
is asking the PFF to be given enough time to prepare.
Last Friday, the All India Football Federation posted in its website
that its national
team will take on the Philippines in a friendly on Sept. 6. The match,
which will fall on a Fifa international date, could be held in Cebu.
According to CFA tournament committee chairmanGlenn Quisido, PFF already
approached them and asked if they would be willing to host another friendly.
Quisido, who was the overall chairman in the Asian Football Confederation
President’s Cup, said there would be no problem in hosting another friendly
as long as they will be given enough time.
“Katong sa President’s Cup, na three weeks lang to kay nakaya man nato
but for another friendly, mangayo mi’g time to plan gyud,” said Quisido.
He said that they can work with a two-month preparation; however,
he added that it will not be for the logistics but for the marketing side.
Based on his experience, the field only needs a month to be rehabilitated
but for ticket sales, the longer the preparation time, the more tickets
could be sold for the event day.
During the President’s Cup, the grandstand at the Cebu City Sports Center
wasn’t filled, and for a one-day friendly, the CFA wants it packed with fans.
PFF still has the last say on where the game will be held in the country
but as of now their options are limited to the Cebu City Sports Center
and the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod since the Rizal
Memorial Stadium is under renovation.
