UNIVERSITY of San Carlos’ Team As dominated the 3rd Sinulog Football Cup after clinching the Men’s and Ladies titles yesterday at their home pitch at the USC-TC in Talamban, Cebu City.
USC A lambasted Hiroshi-Guardo, 5-0, to become the Men’s Open champions while their lady counterparts edged D’Ladies, 1-0, for the Ladies Open title.
In the Men’s Open semifinal battle, the Warriors advanced to the championships via a 2-1 outsmarting of Panalpina while Hiroshi-Guardo prevailed through a penalty shootout against Timex, 3-2, after the regulation ended at 0-all.
In the Ladies Open held at the San Roque football field, USC A grabbed a finals ticket with a 1-0 blanking of San Roque Football Club (SRFC). D’Ladies, on the other hand, had to figure in a penalty shootout against ERCO, which ended in their favor, 1-0, after the regulation ended in a scoreless draw.
The Under-15 girls title went to Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) A after scoring the lone goal in the penalty shootout against SRFC after their regulation match ended in a stalemate.
While the Magis Eagle easily advanced to the championship round with a 1-0 win over Dinamo, SRFC had to go through a penalty shootout against St. Theresa’s College (STC), 1-0. The regulation match ended at 0-all.
The fight for the BPO title saw Innodata A sweeping past sister team Innodata B in a penalty shootout, 3-2, after they figured in a scoreless draw in regulation.
Innodata A arranged a finals date with its sister team after a 1-0 blanking of Stream A, while Innodata B dismissed Lexmark B with a 2-0 decision.
The 38-Above title went to ERCO who inflicted a 2-0 lambasting of Queen City United (QCU) A, in the last match of the tournament.
ERCO marched into finals with a 1-0 penalty shootout win over Hiroshi A after they figured in a 1-all draw in the 14th minute mark.
QCU A advanced with no difficulties with a 2-1 defeat of Hiroshi B.
The last match last Saturday saw Canduman bringing home the Boys 13 title after edging AdC, 5-4, in a penalty shootout. Their regulation match ended at 1-all. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
