By Jerome S. Galunan Jr.
The 2nd Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr. Football League 2012 organized by the Visayan Football League Association, Inc. is set to resume its games on Saturday, January 12, at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
This was revealed by tournament commissioner Warren Concepcion after the league took a month break last December 8, 2012.
Scheduled to play this weekend at 8 a.m. are teams of Silver Dragon FC and the Escalante FC.
The Silver Dragons are expected to come out strong behind young but experienced players, while the Northern Negros-based booters will try to spoil the former squad’s attempt to snatch the victory.
In the second game at 10 a.m., Atletico de Bago aims to continue its winning streak before the league’s break as they face last season’s semifinalist Sagay City FC.
The Bago City squad is also anticipated to play a high-caliber game inspired by Azkals’ keeper Eduard Sacapaño, who once suited up in one of the club’s victorious games.
The Sagay City FC, on the other hand, cannot be denied as they are also bannered by booters carried over from its last season’s campaign.
In the afternoon matches, league leader and last season’s runner-up Bacolod United FC headed by multi-awarded mentor, Norman Fegidero, will be challenged by the Minulu-an Talisay FC at 1 p.m., as both clubs are also expected to play tough game
Meanwhile, Cadiz City FC and La Carlota FC will battle in the last scheduled match this weekend.
