THE Philippine Women's College (PWC) was crowned champion at the close of the 2nd DFA Women's Open Football League held at Tionko field recently.
PWC edged Ateneo de Davao High School, 4-3, in their titular showdown.
Ateneo Davao High School settled for the runner-up honors while D' Davao Survivors placed third following a 3-2 win over Davao-SOS FC in the bootfest organized by the Davao Football Association.
Cherry Vilchez netted two goals for PWC in the seventh and 55th minutes as Jun Mae Bunac and July Bunac added goals in the 71st and 77th, respectively, to secure the title.
Nina Alexi Arrieta, meanwhile, scored Ateneo's hat trick in the 13th, 15th and 20th.
Ateneo Davao High School's Janna Barcemo was named most outstanding player while teammates Gabby del Fierro and Bea de Luna were hailed best goalkeeper and best defender, respectively.
PWC's Jhekai Cantila and Vilchez also received individual awards. Cantila took the best midfielder title while Vilchez got the best striker honors.
Edge Outdoors' Daryl Valdez awarded the trophies and medals to the winners of the competition supported by Hinex Janitorial and Allied Services, Edge Outdoors and Taku Football Foundation. (MLSA)
