HONING up for the United Football League Cup set to kick off on October 14, the defending PFF-Smart Championship titlist Ceres-La Salle eleven on Sunday beat a CPU-Korean squad in a friendly, 2-1, in Iloilo City.
The host-squad of CPU-Korean International Team took an early lead behind Stephen Tanedo who hit the net in the 27th minute for a 1-nil advantage at half.
Ceres-La Salle came back a better side in the final half as Byeong Jun rolled the equalizer in the 46th minute.
With the shift in momentum, the visitors aggressively attacked CPU's back four and Byeong Jun scored again his second and team's final goal in the 62nd minute.
Ramon Janeo, Ceres-La Salle's assistant coach, said that this friendly match is part of the team's intensive preparation for the UFL Cup expected to be tough tournament.
Aside from the Azkals-bannered Global FC of national team manager Dan Palami, Ceres-La Salle is looking forward to go out strong against Cup's defending champion Stallions FC, composed mostly of Iloilo-based players, Negrenses' longtime regional archrival. (HGD)
