THE Philippine Football Federation (PFF) made some last-minute changes to the roster of the men’s national team for two upcoming international friendlies against Malaysia and Azerbaijan.
Two goalkeepers were subtracted as Neil Etheridge suffered an injury in England, while Ed Sacapaño failed to get a clearance from Philippine Army, which required a two-week notice for call-ups before allowing its player to suit up for the national team.
Aside from Etheridge, Paul Mulders was also scratched from the lineup due to injury.
With their absence, Azkals coach Thomas Dooley inserted Green Archers United’s Patrick Deyto, a 23-under standout who will play in both matches.
“Everybody has to be ready. If somebody can’t go, we have to have the next in line,” Dooley said a day before the Azkals' departure for Malaysia on Thursday.
Simone Rota of Stallion FC has also been added to both squads after the Filipino-Italian defender secured his passport on Wednesday.
The Filipino booters face Malaysia on Saturday before taking on Azerbaijan four days later.
