  2. It looks like Myanmar chose the right strategy to contain Vietnam. The same team played Vietnam in a minitournament in hanoi a few weeks ago and lost 0-5. This time around they managed to hold Vietnam to a draw. It seems most likely that we need to defeat Myanmar now in order to make it to the next stage. Myanmar chose the right strategy and we did not.

  3. Choose the "right" strategy or not, Myanmar are more experienced and perhaps technically better as a whole. They're group has been together longer as well compared to us!

People need to get over the loss to Vietnam already! It's getting old, boring and tiresome with all same BS being said. At the same time, people need forget about the idea of winning a medal this year. Its as if people think we're some powerhouse that got an unexpected loss or something. The idea that Palami and whoever else put forward about winning 10 points and/or winning a medal is making people come out with all sorts of BS commetns especially if they lose which obviously happened against Vietnam!

Get a grip people, get a fucking grip please!!

  4. if not a medal, at least the idea of winning bro. hehe. 4 games to go. that's 12 pts to catch! myanmar held vietnam to a goalless draw. that's something weiss should focus on! in one opinion written in prior articles, let's park the bus if we think we're left off. we didn't do that vs vietnam.

  5. Ya sure the idea of winning, but still, don't get your hopes up too high.

They can park the bus all they want but they'll still get sliced open easily from time to time. It was the same with the senior team last year in the Suzuki Cup. They parked the bus but all our opposition still cut us open very frequently. What more at this level (U-23) with even ess experienced players??

  6. parking the bus doesnt mean being impenetrable. in suzuki cup, we just didnt went deep down the line that vietnam didnt have the shots they want on target. :) its a very relatively young, very inexperienced team (yeah we have "experienced" Fil-foreign contingent but seems it didnt meet up the expectation) only muller shows he has the kicks! de jong, de murga, hartmanns, ott - they're just walking around the park like our local players. kulang sa cohesion pero may laban. its up to the coach to get the grip. if the team plays like pen-pushers, something must be wrong with the training. if they win, then its a bit of luck. may skills pero hindi naman na-level up. kulang pa sa exposure. pasensya na muna pag natalo. hehe.

  7. Lets look forward to the next game. Should be a good opportunity to get a win or a draw.

I think the players feel the pressure already. Specially since theyve been overhyped and all the talk about getting a medal even months before the SEA games started. I cant understand why they(management) couldnt lower the expectations rather than going waaaay overboard. And most new fans are kinda expecting a medal.

Its like if New Zealand in last years WC wouldve said they were going for top 4 overall. So lets hope the guys can put on a good performance.

  8. win or lose, this "jr azkals" concept is not going to do our football any good. this team is just put together for purposes other than building. medals? its a shame. they basically adopted the same idea pushed out in the "sr azkals" that of recruiting better more experienced players from somewhere, which is for me a necessary evil or more of a necessity to spread popularity of football here. irs time for PFF to start putting money in the bank by building from scratch through a decent youth system/program that put in motion a campaign that would maximize potential of our local youth.

  9. ok. it's not that I'm trying to sugarcoat our Azkals. We lost and that's the result. However, to say that we did not chose the right strat is a bit ignorant. Vietnam held the position in a lop-sided fashion (70%-30% to Viets); in short we played defensively much like Myanmar. Caoch W. even said that in the begening to hope for a draw as Vietnam is capable of beating our Azkals 7-0. Now, I'm just saying that we had the right game plan of playing defensively and counter as they did; however, there are other factors that played to our disadvantage and that is the exclusion of Muller, Ott, and other starter in our japan training camp and then just insert back into the line up straight from long flights. Has any of you travelled that far? I have and it is very exhausting and to play right away is even insane. Now, that's not a defense as the team as a whole should have thought of that long before this tourney began.

All foreign-based Azkals should be with the team during the training, ideally, because cohesion is very important in football. this is not basketball where the point guard can just put up some hand signals or shout out the play or something. football is played deferently in a sense that you read the flow of the game and the tendencies of your teammates movement. that's why coach W. is dreading about our Azkals lack of cohesion. Yes, there is game plan and system of playing put in by a coach, but at the end of the day, players play to their tendencies and that what other teammates should anticipate.

You can't really compare our football team to other nations. One, we are just starting to adopt this game as a nation; we don't have a culture yet with football if you will. This under 23 Azkals just barely put together for this tourney unlike other national teams where they grew up from even under 17s all the way to the Senior squad. In other words, relax bandwagon fans as they really don't owe anything to you yet. Jk Jk Jk. :D But really, we can't expect much about this generation of Azkals as I found that their mission at this point is to spark interest in football. I think they did pretty well on that mission. But now that interest has grown much higher than before then we can build a team from the many kids learning football everywhere in the country now. Give this some time and we will get there.

Like I said, It's not fair for our Azkals that many of the bandwagon fans expressing themselves as if our Azkals owe them a lot. In fact we as a nation owe our national palyers (may it be football, dragon boat, etc...) an apology for not fully supporting and appreciating what they went through to banner our flag. Take our previous football teams, for instance, they were the laughing stock in Asia and that's due to our lack of support. Those players went through hardship and neglect and embarrassment in every competition. Only until November or December of las year that our Azkals finally broke through, and that's without these demanding bandwagon fans. So now they all jumped-in with the Azkals' success and then they expect to have a joy ride all the time from the team. That's not fair to our Azkals. So just relax and we will get their with our genuine support and love for our country. We will get there. Believe... :))

  10. well said. i hope u r right re development down the road. but there should be a part of the house devoted to "sparking" interest and other parts committed to a farm system and others. im fear for missed opportunities down the stretch. there's no sense of urgency to BUILD outside of the AZKALS.

  11. appart from losing 3-1.....we were able to take the lead in the first half and upset them. Too bad the own goal happened. who knows if we would have been able to keep it longer 1-0 for us maybe the Vietnamese team became nervous and frustrated.....but that is finished now. Let's focus on Myanmar and give the best vs. them. In case we can upset them we still can become 2nd in the group. Even if not - the team at least gets some international experience for it's future. So relax....

  12. How about we focus on timor before we focus on myanmar? I dont understand why you bandwagon fans underestimate the minmows... minnows din tayo.
