MANILA, Philippines — Tickets for the dream match between David Beckham’s Los Angeles Galaxy and the Philippine Azkals on Dec. 3 are so expensive that even die-hard Azkals fans apparently are not biting iThe cheapest ticket has been pegged at P2,000 which will put the buyer up in the bleachers or to seats where there is likely no cushion.
The most expensive seats, located in the VIP area, is priced at P15,500 which is more than the minimum montly salary of a wage earner which is P11,250.
The next most expensive seats cost P12,500, P10,500, P9,500 and P5,000 – still tough for ordinary fans especially that Christmas is just around the corner.
In comparision, the most expensive ticket for the game that featured NBA stars led by Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul and Derek Fisher last July just cost P5,500 while the general admission ticket was P300.
The exorbitant ticket prices were widely assailed by fans on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, some of them saying that they will watch the match on television.
ABS-CBN Sports also announced on Wednesday that it has struck a deal with organizers to show this match on Dec. 3 slated at 7 p.m.

Well... this is poor from the PFF, Palami or whoever else. Not only are they trying to aim for things that aren't realistic (i.e. medal at the SEA Games), they're also trying to invite players/teams even though we're not ready. They're trying to do too much too soon and it looks like its gonna backfire. lol!! I wouldn't be surprised if no more than 50% of the Rizal was filled.

ReplyDeleteHopefully only attention seeking celebs will turn up for this stunt and even they'll want their money back when they find out that Beckham's Galaxy contract ends on Nov 30 and he's probably got better things to do than join this kind of commercial circus.
