PFF wants lower price for Beckham tickets

Written by : JOSEF T. RAMOS

PHILIPPINE Football Federation (PFF) President Mariano Araneta wants a more affordable ticket price for the exhibition match between the Philippine Azkals and international football star David Beckham with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

“I’m hoping the organizers of this exhibition match would consider finding ways like promos to lessen the cost of the tickets for the sake of many local football fans,” Araneta told The Manila Times.

According to Ticketworld, tickets for the event will be sold at P5,000, P9,500, P10,500, and P12,500 each. Araneta believes that such a price range would be prohibitive to many Filipino football fans.

Besides the actual exhibition match, the organizers are also selling tickets for LA Galaxy’s practice sessions at P3,000 (grandstand seats) and P1,500 (bleachers) each.

LA Galaxy members will also hold a football clinic for children charging P14, 000 per head.

  1. If the PFF wants cheaper tickets then maybe they can chip in to pay Beckham's $25,000,000.00 a year pay cheque. The Galaxy is not a charity. The last time I was in London, England was playing an international against Poland. I looked at the price of 2 tickets and watched the game on tv. Mercedes won't drop the price of their cars so that more people get a chance to own one. Sorry Mr. President but you look stupid for asking organizers who are taking all the risk, to lose money. If they lose money this will be the last time a team comes to the Philippines.

How about a fill-in-the-blank post here somewhere that says:"The tickets for the LAGalaxy vs. Azkals match is ____________!"

    Let's hear it.

  5. Edit: not a comment post but a BLOG post front center.

Or, maybe the "vote" section of your site can handle that, huh? but i really think hearing raw comments is pretty damn cool.

  6. What Araneta is saying is: we hired ourselves out to promo outfit FuelCel Inc. expecting to make easy money. We now find that rich people don't really give a shit about the Azkals, especially if the rumour's true that David Beckham may not be travelling, so we have to do what we can to get more bums on seats. SEA football games look like only team officials turn up to watch and it makes terrible TV.

  7. I think that they were hoping that rich people would pay to see the Galaxy. They might even cheer for them.
