  4. ^^
exactly. My World Cup 2010 Quarterfinal Category 1 (the best seats) tickets were about PHP 12,000 already. My category 1 group stage tickets were PHP 7,000 only. These prices are obnoxious and ridiculous.

No way watching a World Cup QF equals an Azkals-LA Galaxy exo match. And David Beckham is not even a sure bet to come.

  6. The attendance in the recent Phil vs Nepal match (with low priced-tickets) should be a gauge on how the market will react to a match between Azkals and LA Galaxy.

  7. Disgraceful estimation for a friendly game....David Beckham or not. Not a smart move from a country trying to promote football or soccer.
I have watched some of the Asian games on the tv and have wondered where the supporters were.
Rows upon rows of empty seats.
Come on Philippines...reduce the seat prices and fill the stadium. Filipinos cannot afford this greed. All we are saying, is give them a chance.

  8. You people should've expected this already... I mean, Rizal only seats 15,000... maybe even less... and the Galaxy obviously needs to be paid to be here...

  9. Exactly and everyone who performs deserves to be paid. However, if any market research has been done then LA Galaxy, who have very wealthy resources, should not expect gate money similar to the United States. If they lowered the prices in relation to wages paid in the Philippines they may have a chance of filling the stadium with 15,000 persons. If they only sell 1500 tickets at say 1000 Php they will only total 1500000 Php.....If they lowered the price to 400 Php and they filled the stadium they would reap 6000000 Php.m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m

  10. "Not a smart move from a country trying to promote football or soccer."

Mind you, the PFF isn't the one setting prices! And it's the LA Galaxy who tried to get match here, it's the PFF that got them. You want a high profile team with high profile players like Beckham, you gotta pay up! Like I've said above, welcome to the real world of pro sports! At the same time, that argument is getting old. So what do you expect, charge no more than P100 for VIP and say P10 for bleachers? Get a grip!

  11. Who are the organizers of this match if it is not PFF ?

Im expecting less than 5000 showing up at Rizal.

Paying 3000 pesos to see LA Galaxy practising day before the match ? Crazy !

  12. "So what do you expect, charge no more than P100 for VIP and say P10 for bleachers? Get a grip!"

No need to be condescending to us who are not as experienced as your are in the "real world of pro sports".

"You want a high profile team with high profile players like Beckham, you gotta pay up!"

But David Beckham, who's the main reason 95% of the people will be watching, I bet, is not even a sure bet. He hasn't renewed his contract with the Galaxy yet, and there are already rumors linking him to PSG in France.

And we all know that we need to pay up. We're not idiots. No one's asking for dirt cheap prices. What we're asking for are prices that are, for lack of a better word, reasonable relative to what the product is and the cost of other similar products. The truth of the matter is, they are selling tickets for a match between a low-ranked national team (sorry) and a team from a league that won't even be considered within the top 5 or 10 in the world (who may not be bringing with them their biggest star) for the same prices as World Cup Quarterfinal tickets. How are we not well within our rights to complain?

  13. It seems to me that whoever decided to bring the Galaxy here jumped the gun without taking into account how high the ticket prices will be, given that Rizal is so tiny. Or that they just didn't care how high the ticket prices will have to be, figuring that people would pay anyway to see Beckham.

And that seems to be backfiring on them. A LOT of people I know, myself included, who could well afford to pay the ticket prices are boycotting the match on principle.

  14. Anon above said "Get a grip"! I think he or she has missed the point completely! To suggest the gate price to be between 10Php and 100Php is verging somewhere between unreasonable and absurd. 10Php is what you would expect to pay for a roadside hot dog and if you are fortunate, you may get a second free! That covers the absurdity of it. 100 Php would not cover operating costs. That covers an unreasonable charge.
Here is the point if I have to spell it out.....the people of the Philippines cannot afford to pay the suggested prices, so instead of half (or even quarter) filling the stadium at these prices...lower the prices and fill the stadium. This way you fill the stadium...you promote football...you make a profit...you satisfy the supporters and you will get supporters returning to the next game. It is not about a quick sweep and pocketing a handsome profit then shooting off into the horizon to make another quick buck at another location. It is also satisfying for the organisers to see familier faces returning.
If you had bought that hot dog for 10Php then walked along the road and saw it for 5Php, where would you go the next time?
Please organise these letters to form a sentence: the...coffee...smell...wake...and...up......................
