  1. This tournament is gonna be tough. The only upside is if ethridge and gier can play. It will shore up the defense as Jonsson can slide back to the left where he seems to be more comfortable. so it would look like the Suzuki Cup defense all over again. But the midfield and forward line will be the problem. With Chris and Phil out for sure, its gonna be tough scoring. we cant really expect Guerridon to fill that void in his first game (he might not even be selected). Lets hope they find a way and stay focused and solid in defense. Without De jong in that central midfield position, i wonder who will be in there. Simon and Phil?

  2. Simon and Phil? Who's 'Phil'? Younghusband? He won't make it to Myanmar.

Anyway, Weiss seems to love playing Gener at LB, so expect him to continue with that trend. If Simon Greatwich is part of the squad, it will be him with Jonsson in midfield and then Guirado with Araneta up front.

Reports before said that Gier won't be available for Myanmar either, so what's the truth? Is he really available or not?

  3. What about Manny Ott?? Are there any information about him??

  4. what's Azkals' history v. Palestine? There's talk about this sqd being "very good.

  5. The Philippines has never played Palestine before. This will be the first ever match between the two countries. And yes, Palestine are a pretty good side.

  6. if Rob can play, maybe the manager can play Ali as the CDM and play Rob and Jason as the CB.. just a thought.. just to fill the void left by De Jong.. what ya think?..

  7. At starfish...

That's actually an interesting idea. But will Weiss actually do it? That's another matter which I don't think he will.

The closest thing to that idea is if Weiss uses Guirado in midfield and not up front.

  8. It's interesting but I don't think the manager will not do it.. not this time.. he won't experiment that much on the back four..i guess..

i think William and Yokyok will play.. It seems the manager is very high on them.. but still i'm clueless with the formation or where the players will be place on the pitch..

there are lot players not on their preferred positions and with Anghel and Will coming where are they gonna play.. up front, wing or mid..

and i wanna see Ian come as a sub.. just to give him a break.. "pahiyang" ln ba..^_^

  9. WHAT THE!!! BERMEJO, BARSALES, GENER, JAUGAN, FERRER, MAGARSE, SACAPANO.. IS THIS 35 above tournament? Why stick to these guyz?? are they our future? These guyz are from arm forces and because the coaching staff is from air force, thats why their on the team. Masyado alaga ng coaching staff. So please for the sake of the team, please get rid of them.. They had enough for the national team and God Bless for their contribution. However, instead where moving forward, why not include young locals to develop and gain experience such as these tournaments.

  10. That's what I said starfish, it's interesting but Weiss won't do it. And why would Yokyok all of a sudden be part of the squad? He's not good enough. He can't even get ahead of someone like Ferrer.

Bermejo is 30, Jaugan is 27, Ferrer is 22, Sacapano is 31... Margarse is 34, Gener is 36, Barsales 38. Those are the three oldies.

  11. Hey, when did Ferrer, Bermejo and Jaugan become 35 years old? Theyre in their early 20s still. Bermejo will be hitting 30 soon. Relucio is 32 and Sacapano is 30. Do you know what youre talking about? The rest you know.

Btw, Barbaso, Palmes, Relucio and Jaugan is not going to Myanmar.

  12. Jaugan , Bermejo and Relucio have been dropped from Mongolia match and in come Yannick Tuason and Ricardo Becite. List been updated.

  15. The most amazing thing about this blogsite is the passionate discourse among posters, football advocates, etc (the 'etc' especially). Like walking into room knowing you'll make it out alive but unsure in what shape or state you are going to be. That, to me, is absolute nirvana. Walking into a room knowing that you're not the smartest in the packs and at the same knowing you can tap on these other peoples' energy and passion and use that somwhow to effect other people somewhere is absolutely fantabulous.

Some thoughts re: new line up for Myanmar. Bhoy, it must be a debilitating thing to get cut from this line up. My brother had a hard time coming to terms with the reality of not making the cut for palarong pambansa sqd decades ago. And that was quite a lesser prestigious scale compared to this, back when really they had nothing to look forward to. He us about to retire as a serviceman stationed in central asia and looks forward always to getting online to find out about PI footballing news every chance he gets when he geta back inside the wire. Anyway, it's all business, I'm sure. It's gonna hurt but the professional foresight far outweighs emotional lines. I think that's how it's supposed to be. It's a forward movement, yes.

To the unfortunate members who couldn't make the cut, you are, and will always be HEROES of Philippine Football in my book. It's never the end for you guys, there's a lot of stuff to be done. Hang around some. MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO!

Yes I think that is correct . The list for players for Mongolia matches had to be sent to AFC in early Jan. The new list for players for group stage was sent later , maybe February. I think it had 48 players ?

    ------------

    Yannick Tuason is a striker

    ----------------------

Bleachers Brew report Rob Gier is not going but all other media report he will be in Myanmar

    ----------------------------------
Inquirer.net report Ricardo Becite is in the team but Manila Bulletin got David Basa

  17. Jonny,

Apparently Lucena will be able to make it in the last 2 games against Bangladesh and Palestine.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes, I just read that now. Would like to see it confirmed on Danish club website also...

  19. jonny...

Probably it's David Basa? Because there are only a few defenders left after Bermejo and Relucio were dropped.

But then again, it could also be Becite since he's been part of the training pool since Weiss arrived? He even scored in that one training match where they drew 4-4.

    Too many contradicting reports... lol.

  20. Manila Standard today report also David Basa will go.

Rob Gier seem ready and Phil Younghusband is still possible for the last two matches against Bangladesh and Palestine.
