There might be a hint of offside, but it doesn't matter now does it? The goal stood and the Philippines lost 2-1.
Anyway, it's obvious that ABS-CBN are trying way too hard when it comes to football, be it coverage, punditry, reporting or whatever.
I mean, an entire hours worth of a pre-game show/analysis and it's filled with commercials and the same stuff being said. And then you look at the punditry team they've assembled to cover this game.
- Marielle Benitez; OK the women's national team captain, but still, very 'meh' especially after watching her performance as a pundit.
- TJ Manotoc; so he's a reporter and reports on sports, it doesn't make him a pundit all of a sudden.
- Paulo Buendia? Played UAAP football, OK, now what? Doesn't exactly make him a pundit, let alone a good one.
- Chris Soler, labeled as a 'sports analyst'. Seriously? If so albeit a rather poor one that doesn't really specialize in football.
- Rudy del Rosario. One of only sensible picks for the team to cover this match. He's a former national team player and apparently is a coach. Not a bad pick from ABS. The other good pick was Darren Hartmann.
- For commentary. Bob Guerrero, he really should just stick with basketball and billiards.
People are very quick to comment on things that are not pleasing to the eyes or ears instead of giving consideration on things that other people are not familiar with.
Can we not be to harsh in our comments in order not to hurt other peoples feeling?
I thought that Darren Hartman made some knowledgeable and astute observations. Plus listening to him sounds like listening to a telecast of the World Cup. Adds an element of authenticity to the telecast. The English in my opinion make the best commentators in football.
As for the telecast itself, it was the worst case of camera coverage I have ever seen. The Mongolians cameraman needs to get fired pronto for such inept coverage.
Oh FFS! Man the F up Ed! It's not like those comments were towards you. Unless you're affiliated with ABS-CBN? Or you're one of those pundits in disguise?
That's the problem, there's too much of this goody-goody type of attitude and because of that you/we aren't gonna get change or improvement.
It's clear that ABS-CBN were trying too hard to impress and make it look like "they're in the game". But it backfired and their coverage, be it telecast of games, reports, punditry or whatever, looks very silly, cheesy, amateur and wannabe-ish. So if you're affiliated with ABS-CBN or one them pundits, then here you go, something straight up for you to digest and make improvements.
If you're not, then still, those comments are straight up, no BS and they're not directed towards you. So if you have a problem, tough! Live with it!
Hindi ba offside yung 1st goal ng Mongolia?

6 persons in the studio (gulp!) and little (if any) knowledge from most of them. It's not barrio fiesta! Please learn.
