Hindi biro ang magiging laro ng mga Azkals dito sa Mongolia. Sanay ang kalaban sa lamig at high altitude. Pag handaang mabuti at huwag isisi sa panahon at lamig ang pagkatalo. Laban Azkals!!!!
But fight on! I have no doubt that they will win when it matters.
Just a thought...did they even bring a reserve keeper? It doesn't seem like it. They really should start developing Pascual. I hope he's better than Sacapano.
don't care the result. it's better lost 8-1 than any key player get injure from the friendlies. i assume they play safe on the friendly match (avoid injury)
You can play 'safe' but it doesn't mean you'll play 'soft' and end up conceding 8 goals. Therefore saying they played 'safe' to avoid injuries is not relevant.
Etheridge is a big loss to the Azkals. I hope they could find someone as good as him soon. I dont know how good & confident sacapano as a GK but Im keepin the faith though that Azkals could win in Mongolia.
but just to humor him, the PFF is not a government agency. It's a non-governmental organisation under FIFA.
Not even the Philippine Olympic Committee is under the government. They are also non-governmental under the International Olympic Committee. A proof of this is that they sometimes have disagreements with the Philippine Sports Commission, a government body.
(continuation of previous post) And even if he's a government employee... They man plays in the EPL - one of the most prestigious leagues in the world! Firing him from the Azkals will be a bigger loss to the Azkals than to Neil.
Marlin is nonsense!!! kelan pa naging gov't employee ang azkals???!!! shut-up coz u dont have any knowledge in the world of sports! and we dont care about the friendly games. it's not the time to push the panic button. just beat mongolia and progress in the group stage.
8-1 against a bunch of college kids when the Azkals seem to have done nothing since Bacolod except study football seems unbelievable. Either Coach Weiss has picked a busload of duds or this is some kind of cunning psychology to con the Mongolians into believing it's going to be too easy. Let's hope it's the latter.
Who were the "key players missing"? If you're playing a bunch of college kids, they shouldn't even concede any shots on goal, much more concede 8 goals. So it doesnt matter who the keeper is. No excuse for a national team with lofty aspirations to lose to a college team, period. Players come and players go. We can't ride Etheridge (like we did in Suzuki cup) the whole way. Developing local talent to complement the fil-fors and deepen the team will go a long way.
I guess this is a wakeup call, we have a lot of work to do.. kaya yan.. Go Azkals!
Why isnt Weiss talking about what happened? He needs some explaining on what the heck the game plan was. There will always be his speculation if he doesnt address the public. Some NT coaches get fired after just a few games (hehehe, but we are not that sensitive in the Philippines).
It's just a warm up game. It doesn't mean anything. Besides a lot of the players in this univ. team were prospects of the Yokohoma Marinos, a pro team in Japan. This is what Coach Weiss has to say:
No worries for all Azkals fans,” the German mentor, who turned 46 Friday, “(Yes) we had big problems adapting to the weather and had a match versus a good university side… but the result really doesn’t matter too much and it shows you that we still have to learn a lot.”
Weiss acknowledged that the college team they faced was superior in both technique and teammanship than the Azkals side, saying: “The team (Japanese) trains under professional conditions since young age, (and) they are affiliated to Yokohama Marinos, a big club in Japan. Some of these players might be pros in the future.”
Prior to Azkal's successful Suzuki Cup stint in Vietnam, the team was beaten badly by a 2nd division Thai team, 8-0 if I'm not mistaken. Observing the video highlights of the friendly, it was obvious that our players were not aggressive and half of our players on the pitch were benchwarmers. I was really surprised not seeing Aly tackle the short legs of the Thais. He was even smiling after the Thais score. Meaning friendlies don't make much sense, period!
They might try to arrange a tune up game against an Ulaanbaatar university before the match. The Gengis Culinary Foundation College is up for the challenge. Let's see what happens.
aww thats scary

ReplyDeleteSacapano sucks as a goalkeeper. Replace him with a statue of Iker Casillas. Maybe that statue would be better...
