AFC Challenge Cup finals are scheduled for March 2012 . Why not apply to host the finals ? 8 teams will compete in the finals . One group in Manila (Rizal) and one in Bacolod (Panaad)
I'd rather we wait until we have a new (and proper) stadium before we host an entire tournament.
If we host a one off match like a first leg of any match or anything like that, fine we should be able to host it. But for an entire tournament, it's best we wait until we have better facilities.
i checked the previous host (sri lanka), their stadium just hold 25000 people and another is CR & FC Grounds. CR ground is not even called stadium, couldn't find any much info about this ground.
"The new building includes a viewing deck that will seat 500 people, six corporate boxes, two state of the art Dressing rooms, and outside bar lounge for members and their guests, a lounge bar for members only, and finally a fine dining restaurant to serve members and their guests." (quotes from their website and the picture below too) http://www.crandfc.com/data/images/cms/large/1244618217_jeu25i7il.jpg
i heard rizal is 30000 seats and panaad 15000. i think the stadium is not big problem for this tourney. the problem is who will support the visitor team during the campaign (food, hotel etc.)
hope it will not be N.korea to host. i remember during the world cup qualification final round, no broadcasting when they play home match
Being capable hosts isn't all about capacity of the stadiums. That seems to be the common response when it comes to the issue of being possible hosts. "Well, the CAPACITY is alright...." It's not all about capacity of the venues!
Better repair the facilities now.

Ulol! Pwede nga mag host, pero ang tanong, magiging maganda ba ang paghost natin? You don't host a tournament for the sake of hosting!

ReplyDeleteJust curious - how much work does Rizal Memorial need to conform to standard? And is the issue financial or lack of time for the facelift?
