NEGROS Occidental Sports Coordinator and Executive Assistant Angel Verdeflor on Wednesday said that the Provincial Government is on hand in preparing the Panaad Stadium's football ground for the forthcoming AFC Challenge Cup match between the Azkals-Philippine Football team and Mongolia on February 9, 2011.
Verdeflor said that they are now repairing some parts of the stadium's pitch by planting grasses on areas, which were destroyed during the previous competitions.
On the other hand, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) chairman and former Bacolod Representative Monico Puentevella earlier disclosed that after conducting inspection on the stadium's lightings, he assessed that the facilities' capacity will possibly pass the Asean Football Confederation's requirements.
Puentevella, who is also a member of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Advisory Council, also added that he will meet with PFF President Mariano Araneta and other PFF officers to give a report on the present situation of the stadium to Gov. Alfredo Marañon, who has been giving his all out support to the preparation. (JSG)
